full race?

hey there! i have compleatly stripped everything from my car i dont need....that i can think of...im wonder what i might have missed? i have taken out my bumpers, pop up headlight motors, all a/c components, all carpet, all interior but dash, hallowed the dash out, cut out and hollow my door panels, taken out side windowstaken out all asock intake stuff , ran a straight pipe to a single outlet with one muffler,... i dunno what else can i do is there any more metal i can remove like the inner doors?...i live in hawaii and i dont wory about rain getting in or anything like that...but i dont wanna sacrafice areodinamics

what im basically asking is what esle can i do to make this car more like a full track car?

o and what happenes if i remove that little tube going to the exhaust?

If the car's n/a you already messed up with your ghettoness around the exhaust.

PS can be tossed. Emissions can be tossed. Pass. seat can go. Cut the dash in half. Strip the car of paint/bondo. Sunroof assembly(tac weld the panel in) I believe you only required to have the center mirror and not the outside ones in most states. rubber pedal pads can go, etc. etc.

btw youre ghetto if this is a street car....

lexan hatch windows and windshield. But if you really want to make it a "track car" by which i suppose you mean autocross, then you should get the suspension done as well as items to stiffen the chassis like a cage and whatnot.

Hey 1987RX7guy, can you elaborate on how a single exhaust is "ghetto". Also, whats the difference if its NA or not. I obviously don't know, and would like to. Thanks.

I suppose he means he wouldn't do it. Because only he knows whats cool on an FC. BUT, if you just ran the pipe off the stock manifold you're just making more noise and I doubt more power. A header would be a big improvement. Are you trying to make it LOOK like a track car or act like a track car? Or both? Taking stuff out of the car will help performance all around but if thats all you do you're just scratching the surface of what the car can be built into. And, you'd be doing the part that kills comfort first. If you are going to make it perform with add-on parts as you can afford them then strip it down to the shell, otherwise a few well chosen parts now will give more performance than gutting the car.

I think he is talking about if it is an s4 n/a you would need some back pressure to get the aux. ports to open still, so a straight pipe is not the best choice of exhaust. Unless he has the ports removed (not the best) or the ports being ran off the air pump or by some electric means. But this is only if he has an s4 n/a.

Get a full cage put in and custom rear end to suit your track type, different clutch and pressure plate.

"straight" pipe. I didn't see him list anything about an air pump for his auxilary ports or vdi(if he's in an S5)

That is ghetto.

I don't believe he mentioned a header either. If he's really going to a track some of them have noise restriction too. I doubt one muffler will do, he'll need a second inline or a proper pre-silencer.

For a REAL track car I don't care if the exhaust is single but it has to be done right, not stupidly.

Maybe he's in a turbo II I can't really tell, if so he can probably get away with no muffler at the track.

jgrewe- read above, you know nothing of who I am or why I say things. I'm not cool thats the point. I'm true and I try to be true to everything that my car is being built for. Because being a hypocrite is the exact opposite of what i'm trying to build myself into, someone with integrity in everything they do. That includes building a daily driven sports car and building track only cars, very different animals.....

Its actully easyer to do it without powersteering. You get a better feel of the road.

If you live close to REted you need to go to his shop/place and get yourself taught how to do things. I'm too tired for this crap, if you don't know what a vdi is do a search with the term VDI in it.

What is this a SuperLap project?

If you're going to do extreme lightening, you really need to cage the car.
I don't recommend you start cutting out metal just to get the car light.

Are you a good driver?
Don't take this the wrong way, but people get their priorities mixed up when it comes to race car prep - learn to drive, then start modding the car.
An extremely lightened chassis makes for a very twitchy ride - it might make it a LOT harder to learn if you're just starting out.

If we're talking about SCCA autocross, you just pushed yourself into at least the Prep class, which the car is just not competitive.

People have rolled FC's at HRP, and cutting metal is not a good idea without the cage...

Well I guess I'm just too old to fully understand the term "ghetto" Is it good? bad? or just different than what you want to do?

1987rx7guy, nothing personal but I get tired of people deciding what other people should do with their car.
We all have our own ideas, me, I decided to spend my money and time on cars for the track only a long time ago. It's safer for everybody, accept maybe me! If it doesn't make my car faster around a track it gets ripped out or not installed in the first place. But I'm not going to tell a guy he's dumb for putting something on his car that he likes as long as its safe for him and people around him. After his responses he is obviously just starting out learning about these cars, who knows what cars he played with before if any. We live and learn(hopefully).

He has asked for help lets point him in the right direction, that's why I asked if he is trying to make his car LOOK or ACT like a track car. That would be two different plans. I would be more help with the track plan than the look plan.

I've been playing with rotary cars for about 20 years and I still spend a couple hours on this forum SEARCHING almost everyday. Still learning new stuff all the time.

Ted, you've totally misunderstood his intentions. This is not a real track car, he just wants it to be like a track car (his words, first post). Actual race car info may be a waste time.
