Fuel pump problems

my car ran fine at one point, then the battery got drained whne i wired my head unit wrong. after a couple weeks of not doing anything i finally took it to get replaced. now i try starting it and its not getting any fuel. the fuel lines not clogged. i was going to take out the fuel pump and just get a new one, but the screws retaining it to the fuel tank are rusted and stripped so i cant remove it. is there anything i can do without having to get a new fuel tank

Are you sure that it is not getting any fuel? Why do you think this? Are the spark plugs wet?

And you will need to drill and remove the screws to get them out if they are rusted solid.

yea i removed the fuel hose to the engine and had someone barely crank the engine while i watched the hose. no fuel would squirt out.

The ENGINE fuse controls the fuel pump.

IF the ENGINE fuse is good, then jumper the fuel pump check connector and turn the key to ON. Listen to the fuel pump to see if it's running or not.

Your fuel pump is probably good, but rusted screw heads are no reason to not remove the pump. You just get your drill motor out and install a drill bit slightly larger than the shank of the screws. Then drill just the HEAD of the screws off. Remove pump. Then with your fingers unscrew the screw shanks. Buy new screws to repalce the old.

Ain't the pump though.

It's the yellow, two socket connector near the afm/pressure sensor area. On the right side of the engine bay. You put a piece of bare wire b/t the two sockets. Key to ON, Pump runs.

The ENGINE fuse powers the fuel pump. There is a FAQ thead on this site. The first or second thread on this site. It has a picture of the fuse box and the ENGINE FUSE.

Neither/both.

One wire goes directly to ground. The other one goes to the negative side of the circuit opening relay. You put the key to ON and that puts batt power on the positve side of the circuit opening relay. You jumper the two wires on the yellow connector to put a ground on the negative side of the coil. The relay pulls in and feeds the fuel pump. If the ENGINE fuse is good.

The jumpering of the yellow two socket connector does the same thing that the vane in the afm does in life. IF the vane in the afm moves aft, it puts a ground on the circuit opening relay which pulls that relay in and supplys power to the fuel pump. IF the ENGINE fuse is good.

If you have a digital meter, all you have to do is pull the fuel pumps plug apart and see if there is batt power on the large Blue wire on the chassis harnesss side of said plug. Key has to be ON and the yellow jumper has to be jumpered to see the batt voltage.
