FSM link down???

went to icemans fsm link to find out its either gone or under heavy reconstruction, anyone have a link to the fsm's or can send me an fsm for an 88 rx7? Lost my cpu in a divorce and am currently needing to drop my transmission. I guess the only true concern i have is how do i loosen the pressure plate before dislodging the tranny from the motor? everything else looked pretty cut and dry.

The FSM link in the FAQ for cochran is still working. Just TeamFC3s isn't up right now.

Why would you want to loosen the pressure place before dislodging the tranny? If you're working with a manual tranny, you always pull the tranny first, then you remove everything else.

Now if you're working with an Automatic tranny, another story.

on automatics you completly take off the torque convertor, on mauals you losen the pressure plate to make it easier to dislodge the tranny then you tighten it when the tranny is bolted to the engine, or you increase the likley hood of miss alignment and premature clutch failure

Nothing slides off quite as easily as an RX7 tranny. Nothing goes back quite so hard, unless you use a clutch alignment tool.

Seriously, those rule of thumbs may be true on some other cars, but you don't need to do that on an RX7. In fact, I am not sure that you even could loosen the pressure plate before removing the transmission.

Good Luck.

^ Exactly. No need to mess with the pressure plate at all. The transmissions easily separate.
