90 Convertible here. I bought 4 inch front speakers and when I took the plastic grill off in the car there wasn't a speaker! I was under the impression a speaker was there? Don't convertibles have a speaker there? The plastic trim piece has a grill and Crutchfield shows a speaker there? Is there wiring hidden in there someplace that is not utilized?

 

90 vert has 6-1/2" speakers in the door, no dash speakers. Little 'sub woofers' behind the seat and headrest speakers.

 

That's what mine has, but why the fake grill then?

Guess I'll notify Crutchfield and tell them their applications guide is in error.

 

I did that a long time ago. The FC convertible has 3 versions in 4 years. They have the speakers wrong on one of them and don't really care.



That's why I made the write up on the FC VERT w/Airbag stereo wiring. I got that thing figured out with a lot of little bits of info from several sources, none of which were right. We needed a reference.


BTW, the FSM wiring diagrams have the speakers correctly documented between the versions. Get a copy saved locally. You will be glad you did.

 

4" speakers in an RX don't really do much anyway. In my 86 TII, you can barely hear the fronts over the 6.5's in the back..
