Front Hub Question
Front Hub Question
On S4 cars are the front rotors and hubs connected. I am trying to take off the rotors to get them turned, and I cant get them off for the life of me. Any help is greatly appreciated. It is a 5-bolt NA if it matters.

Nope, they're two pieces. Getting them off can be sometimes very annoying. Make sure you have the phillips screws out. If that doesn't help, heat the rotor to cherry red and hit it with a hammer. THis will probably damage the rotor though.
I had the same problem, if worst comes to worst do what I did (save the hub at all cost). I took mine to a brake shop and they cut the rotor of the hub. In my case they couldn't even press the damm thing out. Please save the hub, very very expensive!

A more delicate approach is to get a couple of bolts with the same threads as those philips screws, but longer so you can screw them into the holes and gently push the rotor off the hub. This won't always work but its the best method to try first, I think.
My whole intention is to get the rotor off and save the hub, because I am doing a 5-lug conversion. I have the screws out, so dont worry about that. I checked the rotor thickness, and it is below minimum specs so I will just get new ones. I have been soaking it in WD-40 and periodically beating the hell out of it with a large hammer for the past couple of days. It is really starting to get annoying. Please explain how I am to heat the whole rotor to cherry red. I have an oxy-acetylene cutting torch, but using that it would take all day to heat up the whole thing. Thanks for the help, Im off to find a larger hammer.

use some PB Blaster or something.. that rust breaker-upper-stuff.. works on just about anything.. then either use a puller (can you on this? I don't know the setup, I used a puller for my flywheel) or a rubber *deadblow* mallet, or a hammer hitting on a block of wood
