FPD removal...
Anyone know what the dimensions are for the banjo bolt used to take off the fpd on an s4? I know 12mm x 1.25 but how long is the shaft, what size holes are drilled in it, where is the cross-drilled hole located on the shaft (how far down)?
Planning on machining the bolt myself, these numbers would help.

Ok, scrapped the original idea of making a bolt, found a spare primary rail. New problem, banjo bolt (with crush washers in place) doesn't seat properly, it bottoms out way before being tight (like 2mm before). Was I supposed to use both sets of crush washers or what? Not to mention that it looks like the hole on the bolt is in the wrong position (too close to the rail, not in the banjo fittings groove). WTF?

I know, I was trying to save some money here, and yes, ten bucks is too much for me. I read on Kevin Landers site that you should be able to do it this way, just wondering why it's not working for me....

find one that is the same length and use tap and dye set to make it fit. thats what i did and it worked beautifully. I used a bolt off an old Volvo. but yeah with out all the work 10 dollars and you find one that fits perfectly.

I am very curious why this method isn't working for me, though. It's odd to see a write-up by such a knowledgeable person be so wrong. I wish Rotary Resurrection would peek his head in here for an answer, or at least some advice...

I encountered the same problem. Being the cheap scape I am, I just cut enough off the end of the bolt to fit and carefully rounded off the edges so it wouldn't cross-thread.
Good luck.
Good luck.
