yeah i thought they were for truck to, but he had them fitted into the muffler space and i think they look kinda good, being the only non round mufflers i have seen on a RX.

I have a single 50 series on mine. Apparently Flowmaster makes some 4-banger mufflers too. (mine was intended for V8s) IMO its a bit loud and its not as loud as the 40 series. Judging from the standards of other people around here, I don't think any of you would have a problem with it. It's fine when @ idle and 'round the town driving. Get it above 3k and it is loud. WOT sounds about the same. WOT is pretty acceptable. On the highway it's very loud. After a 2 hour trip my ears ring. I've also got a presilencer.

I will vouche for the quality of sound from Snrub's muffler, but not the volume. It's too damn quiet. Sounds great though. I'm probably replacing the "Y" area of the Y pipe with a Flowmaster dual out muffler.

I was looking at these a while back before I blew my coolant seal. I was gonna get them but everyone was saying you couldnt put a piston muffler on a rotary cuz of heat or something. would a flowmaster hold up good on a rotary?

My understanding is that the muffler has to be of a certain type of construction and then it can withstand the heat from a rotary. I'm not sure what the wording is. I'd love it if someone could clarify because when I rip out the cat I'd like to replace it with a pretty open muffler or presilencer.

For Mr. Cake :
http://www.flowmastermufflers.com/we.../40seriesO.pdf Looks like they have a 3.0" in 2.5"x2 out in the loudest model. Can't remember, what are you mufflers now?

That isn't true. I carry Flowmaster in my product line, and they have a whole new catalog that caters the sport compact cars all the way up to SUV's and pickups. They are aluminized mufflers that can sustian higher temps the a traditional aluminized muffler. They tend to be quite loud at times due to the fact that they don't use any steel wool or fiberglass packing. This give you optimum flow, for the best performance possible. Unfortunatly I haven't heard of any long term use on a rotary, but I couldn't see why it wouldn't hold up for a long time.

i see no reason for it not to work. i had one on my 89 ranger and yes it got hot as a mother but there really isnt anything to them....think of a hollow chamber with a single v in it for a baffle...that is how mine was constructed anyway. and god are they loud at times....other than that i have been thinking of putting them on mine for a little while now.....dual flowmasters.....??????

I had a pair of Dynomax Super Turbo's installed a while back. They worked really well-nice little kick around 5500 rpm. From the outside, it sounded great. The only problem was that like the Flowmasters, there was a loud as hell droning inside the car around 3000 rpm. Couldn't figure out how to quiet it down, so I removed them.
If anyone can suggest ways to get rid of that noise at 3000rpm, I'd love to stick them back on.

A LOT of FB people use either a 3 or 2 chamber flowmaster... I'm still deciding whether to go flowmaster or MAGNAFLOW single inlet dual outlet...
