Flooding
Flooding
I'm looking at an '88, and I've heard that this generation has flooding problems. I stopped by a person who was selling theirs, and apparently their engine was flooded. A few co-workers of mine also claimed that they've had this problem. If this is the case, is there any way to fix this? Thanks in advance.
there is a method of doing it, i dont have the link right now but it is basically pulling the egi fuse from the fuse box, cranking with the pedal down, putting the fuse badck and fireing it up. sometimes it takes a few tries. im sure if u do a search then u could find the link seeing this is such a big problem
What I do is pull the 40amp fuse (green one) crank it for a second (foot not on gas) replace fuse, and then try cranking it up. It usually works.
I've heard of people using a switch that will stop the fuel pump from working when turning the ignition or something.
I've also heard of people replacing a transistor in the ECU that goes bad.

That link talks about it.
