If your machine is turbo, a boost guage is a good investment, although not really a mod. I'd make sure everything was working properly first, if your car is in good running stock condition it will pay "dividens" farther down the road when you mod it more. That said, I'd by a boost guage first (Nice one like an apex'i or defi, you'll appreciate it more) and then I'd maybe get a downpipe and a high flow cat. At this point you'll hit creep and have to start worrying about that so either S5 turbo gets ported or you can externally gate your stock exh. manifold and weld your wastegate shut if it's an S4. Unless you want to go nuts. Prior to this though I'd get yourself some solid fuel control and either an AIC set up or some kind of piggy back fuel system and larger injectors. I'd do that before I bought an FCD or anything and just keep my foot out of it, it's cheaper to be safe than sorry.

Non-Turbo: Replaced the dual catalytic converters with a single Bonez High Flow from Rotary Performance in Texas (www.rx7.com). A full exhaust does wonders on a non-turbo car. Also look at Racing Beat (www.racingbeat.com) for their cat back and maybe headers depending on your goals.

lol my first "mod" was to change oil, new clutch master and slave cylenders, and TOTALLY restored the brake system. new rotors, calipers, pads, bearings, lines, and brake master cylender! next on my list is a koyo radiator , and tein coilovers along with some wheels and rubber to go with the new stance.
