Exclamation Finally Getting the rebuild started....Got a question?

Well I finally got everything in today and got the Irons back from the machine shop.
I assembled the rotars tonight, went together pretty easily. My main consern is the new side seal I got from Atkins. Of course they wouldnt fit out of the package and I had to sand the ends a little to get them to go in. My issue is how tight they are suppose to be against the corner seal if any. I just dont want to accidently sand off to much. The video just said sand to fit. If someone could get me headed in the right direction, I should get this motor together tomorrow. Also has anyone fabricated a pressure test plate like the one in the video. Or know where I can get or rent something that will work. Thanks.......

The RE Amemiya mechanic will give you an idea on the movement of the side seal.

there is procedures in the FSM as well as hayne's manuals for it and the specs, a tight tolerance is best but really the side seals are a minute factor in compression and driveability and even very loose ones will hardly affect the workings of the engine.

the only thing you do not want is them to be too tight and bind up so pay close attention to the side seal to corner seal gaps, use 3 fingers on the seal with even pressure and slide the seal side to side while checking the gaps.

Calipers.....micrometers?

What?

How about feeler gauges.....

The only way I know to do it...because I have done it

For a turbo car you want .003" At least that is Judge Ito's spec and I did that.
