Filter upgrade writeup

I was driving around yesterday and i decided i wanted to upgrade my intake, now i plan on running a cold air intake at a later date, but my friend is welding up some piping for me so in the short turm i decided to lose the stock air box, and i got an adapter and i put a K&N filter on there, and i also installed a breather. Now i know its generic, but after getting everything tightned down, i went for a little test drive, and maybe it was my imagination, but it almost felt like it was pulling much harder. It was very noticeable.

If anyone has a few bucks lying around, i would suggest this, and then later you can make this setup into a cold air.

You actually lost HP!

It just felt faster because of sound and snappier throttle respone. But you sucked in the hot air into the engine.

Denser air = more power!

And K&N isn't generic.

Yeah without opening up that can of debate, the stock box and piping configuration is already a cold air intake.

I dont think so. I mounted the filter right behind my FTP lens, which is missing... for reasons unknown, so it is a semi cold air. But judging by what i felt, and i didnt hear anything because i had my music blasting for that exact reason.... there was more power.

Car to dyno it and prove me wrong?

Because you won't ;o!

Nearly every intake thread suggests against it. Also if my memory serves me correctly. There is a small wall behind the FTP, forcing the air into your headlight area and nowhere near the filter.

Got a picture?

how many ftp 'hole = cold air' posts are there going to be?

your ftp light hole does nothing for cold air, if you still have your headlight assembly in there, and you havent cut a hole in the frame for the air to go through.

its a wall back there.
