fc3s confusion!
Im getting an fc from my uncle im about a month and im $hit clueless about setting it up for drifting, ive heard storys about how bad, and bad *** rotarys are ,but fugg them h8erz .
i was wondering wut to start with..................
my friends are drifters (mostly silvias and hachi's ) , but they are confused about rotarys, i get the concept, the base of it consists of air and fuel (right?) , anyways im thinkin about starting off with a turbo timer and air fuel ratio gague, boost gague, and a super afc, is there ne thing im forgetting?
thanx,
josh

what does drifting have to do with air/fuel?
alrite...first off:
Air/fuel on any car is key for not detonating, but to set it up for drifting, you need: rear steer eliminators, shocks, springs, old rear tires, sticky front tires, no negative camber.
Most often, the apex seals on rotaries go out, but thats usually from either an old engine, or boosting too much.
Also overheating is a death. If you overheat one time, you can fry your water seals.
someone else chime in..im worn out from the day

are you talking about drift setup or engine setup? drift setup only has to do with suspension / tire and engine setup is everything else wit hteh power and such...
ur friends are probobly confuse about how rotary engine works... but drift or grip doesn't matter!!

whats with everyone and drifting this past week??
Just get a non-turbo rx7 and work with the suspension. Add a header and presilencer IF you dont have emissions testing ( had to say that for legal reasons ), a decent exhaust and an intake. That will give you decent power to start drifting, sliding, crashing, or whatever youre going to do. N/A FCs are cheaper too.

Does the DTSS work well for drifting, does it not make any difference, or should it be eliminated like a road race setup? He may want to get the DTSS eliminators, but I don't know because I don't drift.

Why would high speed entry be more relevent then the exit speed? I also agree that in some turns a slight drift is beneficial but IMO you always wanna balance exit and entry speeds for fastest possible times.

guys. the "speed" of drift or grip cornering has EVERYTHING to do with the car. while grip driving is generally faster, drifting can be beneficial, depending once again on the driver. if you know how to drift properly you can take a turn with little to no loss of speed. in general with a good driver, it's faster to drift on a RWD and grip with a AWD car, and just don't take corners in a FWD...
