FC01 cpu...which car does it belong in?
just curious i have an 89 vert. reciepts show a cpu replacement (before i bought). pulled out the cpu and its labeled FC01. ive come to understand this may not be the correct cpu. FB01 is sposed to be there?
also pulled off drivers side door panel to reveal some funny grounding going on. traced it back to around the cpu. theres a plug that has a wire stub sticking out of it...obvious cut. then an add on black wire(different guage sticks out like a sore thumb) piggybacked to the harness that goes into the door.
my ultimate goal is to get back complete functions of my verts warning beeps and so forth.
any input is appreciated
thx

I am sure its a typo, and is a FB01, not a FC01, although you did mention that you had only two PC boards in it where there is normally three.
It should look like this:
Notice the plug in the middle and the two plugs on the bottom.
Anyway, what are the colors of the wires in question??? The wire tapped??? the wire cut????

my cpu looks like that except only one plug at the bottom(theres a place for the other one,but no plug) also where yours is stamped in white FB01...mine is stamped FC01. as far as the wire that is cut i will look and count how many wires and colors that go into the specific plug, hopefully help to recognize which plug it is. the actual wire that is cut looked all black. its so short now that im gonna have a tough time seeing if it has any other colors on it. as far as where the new wire goes? one end is screwed into the drivers side window regulator mounting bolt (one of the bolts only) the other end ill have to hunt down for more specifics.
what application is the FC01 cpu...or does it exist?

did some research on the FC01. Its only on S5 FCs & MX3 with factory alarm, and without keyhole lumination.
Either way the FB01 works in a S5 the same way. The only difference is the one relay is moved offboard the FC01 that is inside the FB01.
If a wire is screwed into the window mounting then it is an aftermarket ground, that someone surely added to help the power windows, before they realised it would do nothing.
Still need the color or pin location of the cut wire to determine what it is.

On that FB01 you found, it is common to have cold solder joints and that sometimes also will cause the warning lights not to work and other issues.
