fc turbo vert?

Having a debate with a guy on another forum. I was 99% sure mazda never released the vert as turbo, something to do with the chassis being weaker or something. But old mate is trying to tell me that they didn't in aus or the us but did have that option in japan, so i figured i would ask here and either be told I was right, or flamed for being a nub. So can someone tell me?

Every FC in Japan was turbo, verts and coupes, they did not have any N/A's at all. This is why you will occasionally see J-spec engines with auto trans available.

I believe the stock vert ECU can handle boost too.

i'd like to know if this is true, i imagine a JDM VERT ECU could, as it of cource would, but as i recall the vert USDM ecu is not the same number as any other ECU numbers. whats the 88 vert ECU? 334? 328?

The US vert ECU is N338. It shares the same N33x pattern as US S4 TIIs. Some say it'll run off of a TII engine's sensors, but there are some issues like the boost sensor voltage ranges that don't add up. I never tried it in my car, and don't really want to. If it ends up that it actually still uses the NA maps, that could be catastrophic.
