Interesting thought…
I’m having issues getting my 88 vert started. However I confirmed I’m getting fresh fuel up. But never considered the alarm system.

How do you know if you have one equipped or if it’s active? I know it has an orange “security” light on the center console. Can you easily disable?

Ill come back and watch this.
thanks for posting.

The CPU/car alarm can definitely cause those problems. Most likely it needs repaired. I have never opened one up that didn't. Here is a link to the post I made on repairing those CPUs. It's not too difficult. The typical problem is a failure of the main power filter capacitor in the CPU. It fails and corrodes the power trace underneath that powers the chips inside. These chips run your fuel pump security relay. Have a look and let me know.

Very nice write up there.
Again, I don’t know if the security system is preventing my car from starting (has sat idle for 16 years), but I’ll take mine out and give it a look over.

Got a buddy who worked for NCR. This would be right up his alley!

Thanks.

The factory alarm is detailed in the owners Manual. There is a locking/unlocking sequence which can trigger the alarm process.
