FC acceleration and deceleration
FC acceleration and deceleration
So I have 89 Fc that's been sitting for almost 3 year, and slowing going throught the process of getting it back to where it needs to be. I'm having issues where putting your foot on the throttle sometimes makes the car accelerate but often doesn't like half throttle and when you push in and out the pedal the car starts to accelerate. Along with that I have an issue where if you let your foot off the pedal the car starts to jerk back and forth. To get it to stop I push In the clutch. I've cleaned out the engine bay, changed it belts, put in brand new fuel (92) and have it running. Only mod that's been done to the car is aftermarket intake and bolt on exhaust. Before it has been sitting there was no issues. I'm lost here...
welcome to the board.
first thing that comes to mind is check your fuel filter in the tank and change the filter outside. it can't hurt to check your TPS as well.
also, check all your mounts (engine, tranny, diff) and driveshaft.
you can get a copy of the FSM from: Foxed.ca

well, just for clarity, i was saying to check the fuel filter (the "sock") in the tank AND for you to definitely change the filter in the fuel line. it is located on the frame rail on the driver's side, just behind the front wheel. i don't know if there is much you can do about the one in the tank in terms of changing it, but you may be able to clean it if necessary. i remember trying to find a replacement for mine a while back and couldn't find them. maybe another member has better info on if replacements are available.

If the car has been sitting for 3 years, the entire fuel system is contaminated and needs to be flushed/cleaned.
Additionally have your injectors serviced by a local injection shop to clean them and flow test them.
