fan help please

Ok I have a 53mm(2inch) koyorad ready to be installed and im wondering if the stock fan and shroud is enough for it or would I need an efan? Ive read a lot of threads on this but they all just say "I like this fan or that fan" no real info. Im assuming the stock fan is enough. Thaks for any help.

No one has ever said the stock fan (with a functioning thermoclutch) didn't pull enough air.
The problem arises when the clutch is old and should be replaced...it's very expensive.
That's when an efan conversion starts to make sense.

You'll have to trim the stock shroud to fit the Koyo, not sure how that goes.

Just wanting to make sure before I install. I read some threads saying it couldnt pull air good enough and no one was going against that info so I didnt want to be mislead so I asked here myself lol. I mean my fan seems fine no free spinning or anything when I spin it by hand. Yeah saw on mazdatrix theyre about 300 bucks

Stock fan will be more than adequate especially for a NA car

The fan should spin relatively freely when cold. Only slight resistance. If it doesn't, you need a new fan clutch.

A video would only be marginally useful, this is more about feel than vision.

You can easily tell if the clutch is (mostly) working by using a heat gun.
With the clutch at room temp, spin the fan by hand. By design, the clutch never freewheels, it's always @30% engaged at minimum, so there will be some drag.

Now heat the front of the clutch with the heatgun and spin it again.
There should be a definite increase in the drag of the clutch. It never fully locks up either, only going to @80% full engagement but you should still be able to tell.

Then of course, there is the most definitive test of all...put it together and if the car doesn't overheat, you're good.

Well thats what I meant in the other post. it spins but there is a good amount of drag ao I assume its fine well as long as the stock fan can pull in air great for the new rad thats all I needed. If the fan doea turn oit to be busted itll be changed.

A frozen fan clutch will have a noticeable drag on engine power.

Just assemble it and see what happens.
It's either going to work or it's not, no need for all this discussion.

In your other thread

I posted a link to mazdanissan heaven. They have an S5 fan clutch for $40 that will likely solve your trouble. My fan clutch failed on an S4 with 265000 miles. The replacement clutch was used but was dramatically 'stiffer' at warm temps. This completely solved the problem. I never had trouble with that one again. It also had an oem radiator.
