factory alarm system ?
would the factory alarm system disable the car from starting? the reason i ask is that i got my car to start, and it was only after i pulled the alarm system. i didn't think that the alarm system would prevent the car from starting, but i don't really know anything about the alarm. just curious.

What's going on man. Howdy from Stillwater... Haha!
Anyways, I am not sure about the factory alarm system. I'm pretty sure that it won't keep you from starting the car. It just makes lots of noise.

good to see another okie on here...
anyway, for whatever reason after i took off the alarm, the car started just fine. after 3 days of not getting it to start. makes no sense to me, which is why i was wondering if the factory alarm was causing it. i had a mitsubishi with a kill switch, but i didnt think the rx7 had one.

I have heard that if the alarm is armed and someone enters the car without a key..the car wont start, even with a key.....I don't know if I believe that because I have set the alarm with the window down and reached in and pulled the door lock and she cranked just fine.....I read it somewhere,,,or at least I think I did...

any lock will turn it off when it is unlocked. Doors, hatch/trunk, or ignitin.
While Armed the starter will not engage. its possible that you 1. shorted something out when you removed it. so thta maybe the ignition relay is grounded. 2. you fucked up the relay to the ignition relay.
If you reach in through the window, and pop the lock itll go off. But again as soon as you put in your key and turn it it turns off the alarm.

cool, thanks ya'll. had to buy a new alternator too. i think thats what fried my headlights, because it was overcharging my battery. but she starts now, and there's no way i'm gonna leave my car parked without an alarm, so off to purchase another one and put it in there.
