Basicly when i start the car it reads when I drive it reads but is sketchy when I come to a stop or clutch in no reading at all is it my 02 sensor or what cause I just replaced it and it is hooked up to my ECU. pin 2 on the 18 pin black shielded wire that turns to grey down the main stream of wire any help will be a help thanks... If it help I'm N/A for now and it is a 3 wired Auto Meter gauge...

didnt seem that weird to me, during first part of video, i cant hear waht your doing during last half its so choppy.

few things to keep in mind, when say deaccelerating in gear, or as the engines reving down with no gas , it will go full lean, as the engine is cutting fuel. during those times.

once it returns to idle it shoudl read normal. or if your on the gas cruising or increaseing speed.

then also at light to mid throttle when between somewhere around 2200-3800 rpm the car enters o2 feed back loop, and the gauge will rock back and forth between rich and lean, as the car is making corrections for good cruising gas milage.

it has no reading at all when I'm sitting Idle after it reaches operating temperature. It only works when driving and it becomes jumpy like you guys seen. I've been a a few for my old homeboys cars (Honda's & Nissan's) and at a stop they still read but mine shows no reading at all, not even lean. It's just freaking me out that it's doing that when other cars I've been in didn't do that...

hmm, maybe the gauge is going bad? Any way to calibrate it preferably to voltage readings?

its a narrowband sensor to a wideband gauge. did you expect anything less than a light show?

you have to get a wide band oxygen sensor, and a wide band oxygen sensor controller. the controller will have the correct output to wire in the stock sensor wire. then hook up the gauge to the wideband output of the controller. then and only then will your gauge look and function correctly.

Thank you Sir Cygnus that thought crossed my mind about going wide band for tuning purposes in the future, but I didnt know it was a wide band gauge. I never knew it made that big of a difference. Thanks for the help yall !!!

Even if it is a narrrowband gauge, it will still only be a simple light show at anything but WOT. At WOT, you should actually see a semi-accurate A/F reading.

The narrowband gauge on an RX7 is pretty well useless..well,unless you are having a Disco in your car!.great light show.
The gauge won't read correctly at all,and doesn't tell you what you Really Need to know, which is the Ratio of Fuel and Air.Narrowbands are useless to Tune with.
Go to a wideband, and you will get better results. It will allow you to tune the car.and In the Future it will become an ASSET on your Down the road TII!!!

do you still have the air pump attached? that will throw off the readings at idle and cruise

narrowband - most accurate at least throttle
wideband - most accurate at most throttle

You have to have a WB! My room mate has a NB in his GTI and all it does is a light show and it is totally useless--just blinky lights going back and forth and pure rice. If you are going to modify, do it with parts that are actually performance oriented and do something for you. If your engine and fusl system is stock and running correctly, you do not need an AF guage. Once you start doing porting and FI, knowing what you are running is essential.

I'm at work and I can't see Utube, so I don't know what is going on. All I know is that the NB is useless for pretty much everything besides the "performance look". Also, people, keep your gauges off you A-Pilar. First of all, it is not convienent as due to the depth differences your eyes take a second to adjust to each one. This slows your reaction time and makes them harder to monitor. Besides, it looks like crap. That second point is just my two cents as I am tored of seeing every "boy racer" with that crap: it takes away from our car's respectability.

The gauge is working normally. I have that same one sitting on a shelf, and that's always how it behaved. And yes, it's fairly useless except for trying to keep the car in closed loop for mileage (bouncing back and forth).
