Experience with the Ebay knock off BOV's?

I'm considering trying one of the knock off BOV's on ebay.

Mainly the Greddy Type RS knock offs.

Anyone have experience with them? They only last X days and then crap out or are you going strong years later?

They're so cheap that I almost have to buy one. I'll be doing stock turbo 12-14psi boost for now but may go BNR stage 2 later. So it's not a high HP application. I'm thinking they'll hold up.

Here are some example ones

i would personally spend the money for a nice noisemaker rather than the ebay knock off, or just leave it stock. Even at that, my car came with an apexi dual chamber and it leaked like mad. I don't beleive there is much of a performance gain over stock, if any but there is a good chance the bastard will leak air and thats not good for anyone. I am no expert however.

just my .02

also, i noticed that you said you were going to run 12-14 psi on the stock turbo, the stock turbo maxes out "safely" at 12 psi and IMHO thats pushing it. Unless you want to be picking compressor blades and apex seals out of your exhaust, i would just stick to the 12 and under range until BNR.

again just my .02, could be wrong.

^Been running 12-15psi daily for the last year on my daily driver. Finally after 3 years of abuse my turbo does show signs of a bad carbon seal but it still runs fine. No shaft play that would cause it to grenade. I also run the Apexi BOV and have had trouble free usage from day one.

This is for my "project daily drifter" track car. I'm running an Isuzu NPR FMIC and need a BOV as this car does not have the stock piping setup. The ones with the 2.5 pipe make it even easier for me as I don't need to weld. I can just get 2 couplers and throw it inline near my TB.

I think I'm going to be the guinea pig for this one if no one has tried them. It's my track car anyway so it's nto a huge dilemma if I need to buy a replacement.

Personally, if you're only gonna save under a hundred, it's not worth cheaping out.

My pal's turbo KA 240sx came with a knock-off and it imploded about 3 days after he bought the car. I got my SSQV on eBay, but it's real and was $200 shipped. It's the full kit specific for the FC, so it's got the adapter and brackets.

just buy a used brand name if you must, at least it wont look bad under your engine bay.. try to stay brand name you will feel good, even if its used.. Tuning your car should be an art piece becuase eventually you will show it off and it expresses your understanding of how a car should be setup.. and using cheap parts just to get the look is kind of unattractive.

See, Some one replied saying they had the Type RS and it crapped out on them in 3 months. That was a response to the specific bov I was looking at.

ok, so maybe I'll look at getting one of the used greddy type RS's and then grab that 2.5 pipe they sell.
I'm just trying to save money because I've still got other parts to buy. ECU/720 injectors/MBC/SPAL PWM/Shifter/Var resistor/etc

Update.
I went with Tial. Definitely sounds great(aka non ricer/real function).

It at first had compressor surge from delayed opening but works now that I teed off a bigger vacuum port.
