Exhaust note

I just want to know if has anyone had or has this setup. Basically its this, turbo2 with straight pipes to the stock T2 mufflers. will it sound no different than with the cats installed?
any videos of someone?

cats do a lot of muffling, so the sound will certainly be different.

This is NOT what you want. It will sound different and in a bad way.

The stock mufflers were designed to produce an acceptable note for exhaust gasses that have already been muffled by 3 cats. All this going through 2" piping no less.

The sound will most likely be raspy, tinny, and strained. Additionally it will be a restriction in the exhaust system as no matter what size piping you use it will have to be funneled into those tiny cans.

But hey, if you can do it yourself, and have some free time go ahead and then make a video.

just as a general rule...cats make cars sound better. even if they rob power...they make the exhaust note so much better.

^^ That's why you install a resonator. Tone it down a wee, also don't buy some **** exhaust (fart can). Speaking of which, I need a resonator. Israel have you heard my car? With and without the silencer? 3" turbo back, to ebay muffler. I can say I <3 silencers...

back in the day RB sold the 2.5" dp/presilencer combo and my friend had it on his car.

its louder than stock, but not objectionable.

it is kind of tinny, and full throttle is kind of nasty/raspy sounding

need to replace the transmission again... So I think i'm making enough power where it effects a worn out transmission. Didn't even last 3 oil changes. Was going to be on the 2nd one.

I heard one like it, it's now the parts car in my yard.

It was quiet at idle, but sounded sorta crummy in the high RPM's.

Just my .02, of course exhaust opinions are just that. I think Corksport exhausts sound good while others beleive it's too loud and I think Apexi N1 is whisper quiet. To each their own.

Then they've never had an N1... I sold mine after 6 months and went back to the stock catback with some Mazdaspeed mufflers.

My FC, although n/a and completely different, had that same set up before the N1 went on, with the stock header straight piped to the stock cans. It sounded alright, but was louder and still looked ratty. Why not just gut your cats and find a decent catback? Same effect as your proposed method, but it's a much better setup and isn't as ghetto

Why do people always post opinions with no first hand experiance...
Don't listen to them at all...

I have a 3in downpipe to a 3 inch pipe that goes all the way to the "Y" and stock out the rest.. and it sounds absoultely perfect, i don't imagine i could go aftermarket and get it this quiet at idle. and under full throttle it sounds like a deep i dunno... boat? what am i supposed to compare it to? theres nothing else like it..i have had a strieght piped 7 with fart cannon's on the back, loud as ****, ive had them with all cats bone stock.. for me this is the best of both worlds.

A stock exhaust without cats will sound horrible, first hand experience. I can only best explain it as sounding like an angry midget troll screaming inside your exhaust....

Apexi'' N1 to 2.5" downpipe and midpipe to a stock turbo.

I thought it was quiet when it needed to be, loud at WOT.

The Corksport sounded good, just was so loud.

3" piping to 1.5" mufflers...ok...

...and it sounds absoultely perfect, i don't imagine i could go aftermarket and get it this quiet at idle.
probably not; but then again aftermarket exhaust systems are designed to increase power.

...and under full throttle it sounds like a deep i dunno... boat?
...or maybe a 3" pipe full of exhaust gasses struggling in vain to force themselves through undersized mufflers....

... for me this is the best of both worlds.
Ok, can't really argue this one. All I can say is check out racing beat and see if you still beleive that.

corksport 3inch turbo back power series with resonator and silencer sound great to me. But over all i prefer the sound of RB.

Fair enough....

Damn! $60, did you do it yourself?

If your exhaust is too loud for you to hear your turbo it just means you need a bigger turbo
