Exhaust & Intake Setups On N/A FC's
What kind of intake setup do you have? S4 or S5? What kind of exhaust system do you have? Do you wish you would of gone with another setup? Im looking for the best but cheapest exhaust for this S5 N/A ill be purchasing an also a intake setup. Any advice/opinions welcome.

On my S5 N/A
exhaust- RB header to gutted cat to Horrible stock cat back
Intake- Apexi intake... I still need to port match the intakes to get better flow. I also removed the 5/6 sleeves/rods/actuators
I ran with just the header and gutted cat for a day or two, and damn if it wasn't louder than a Harley. just sounded incredible compared to having the shitty catback.
Edit: Definately go with either the RB True Dual header or the collected one. whichever tone you prefer

well my exhaust consists of a rb collected header to a catco high flow cat then goes out of a tsudo single exhaust on the drivers side. all made with 2.5 ss piping.
as far as the intake goes i have a custom cold air box that i made with sheet metal i removed the washer res. and added a pipe that draws air into the box. be able to still use it when it comes time to swap
future plans is 3 inch piping with a burns muffler and still be single

My cars:
'88 Vert - completely stock both ends except for a K&N filter.
'91 Turbo - K&N filter with stock intake, new downpipe, high-flow cat, Greddy PE catback exhaust.
My feelings?
On a stockish NA - if it ain't broke don't fix it unless you got extra cash and nothing better to do.
On a modded NA or T2 - spend the cash as needed for reliability.
As a thought - IMO there is no cheapest and best. You either do it right or not.

I have stock exhaust manifold, downpipe, RB presilencer, and a dynomax cat-back.
Intake is a custom airbox, made with aluminum.
If I could do it over, I would go with a full RB system.
The dynomax cat-back was on my car when I bought it, and it looks really nice, but it isn't stainless or anything, so, it is getting a little worn.
Don't go cheap unless you plan on completely destroying your car. If you plan on destroying it, then weld your own 2.5" exhaust.
Otherwise, spend the money for the RB. Save up, it is worth it. Don't worry about how fast your are "right now". Think about how fast and how good it will sound.

89 GXL:
Exhaust= Racing Beat header, Racing Beat pre-silencer, Racing Beat catback.
Intake= Apexi intake.
Racing Beat is top quality, great craftsmanship and very quiet for being a full exhaust. Apexi according to this filter comparison is the best out there but who knows how legit or accurate the test is. http://www.mkiv.com/techarticles/filters_test/2/

May I suggest RB for all mildly build motors on turbo and for NA they have just about anything you need for exhaust to throw at it. For an intake system do the ebay prelude CAI.

as of right now here is my setup
86 n/a 5spd
Racing beat road race header (with 6 port tube)
racing beat road race pre-silencer
racing beat road race "Y" pipe
racing beat road race extention tubes
stock muffler
as for an intae as of now I just have the adapter and a cone sitting directly on the mass air in the stock location with the stock acordian hose
btw the road race exhaust is the DUAL exhaust
the only thing I wish I had done different is to get some good mufflers on there...
as for the intake I am not done yet but it will be done shortly

May I make a reccommendation: Get the presilencer. It will sounds pretty aweful without it. It really doesn't do a whole lot for sound volume, but it does get rid of the annoying rotary "buzz". You may think you like it until you hear a car without a presilencer.
My personal recommendation is to get the RB header/presilencer and whatever catback you feel like. I have a dynomax exhaust in my garage that I'm gonna throw on once I get my car running properly, but for now I have an Apexi N1. I heard the dynomax with the RB DP/presilencer and it sounds pretty damn good, but I havent yet heard it with the header.

im not ice but as for the prelude from what i remember you need to find one that is the a whole pipe. not the 2 piece but that may work also . i thing you just have to do a lil trimming on the piping but all the angles are damn near perfect. theres a right up on here . look up d-dub in the users he was the one that made the right

To save money on a n/a you can mod your stock airbox by cutting the top part out and putting a k&n filter in there, my problem with cone filters is that i think the get too much engine heat when the car is warm. also i've never noticed any hp difference from switching to a cone filter even with plumbing to make it a CAI.
