Unhappy Engine Vibration All the time!!

Hi, Ok here is the deal, I did a search but no symptoms like mine

87 TII all stock, ever since I installed the Reman Mazda engine 10 months ago 6k ago on the car it has ALWAYS had ENGINE vibration. here are the symptoms.

- the vibration is in all gears it gets more vigerious and violent as the RPMS get higher
- Same vibration in neutral
- new motor mounts
- It feels like it has something to do with the rotating assembly (flywheel or preasure plate? out of balance, just a guess)
- can't really go passed 5500 RPMS in any gear because the vibration is too intense1
-maybe something with the imput shaft on the tranny or bearing (just a guess)
-91k orginal miles.
- never did this on old engine.
- I can feel it mainly in the shifter but its not related to the linkage or anything it just travels their. any imput on situation is highly appreciated.

I would like to be able to redline my car soon !!!

my first idea was a broken mount.. not sure tho... maybe they got a front counterweight that was not balanced with the rotors? or mabe the rotors dont match each other?? maybe theres alot of end play on the E shaft?? good luck figgerin' it out

Did you mix and match counterweights or put a different flywheel on? Anything like that?

My interior, steering wheel, tranny and pretty much everything inside the cabin was shaking vigourously. After a few minutes of looking around I discovered 3 of the bolts that hold my fan on were very loose. I'd check your pulleys and make sure everything that runs off belts and pulleys is securely fastened and within spec tensions.

Needless to say, it runs perfectly normal again.

if those bolts were loose it wouldn't have lasted 10 months.. sounds like either the assnuggets put in mismatched parts (S4 counterweight with S5 rotors) or you got the wrong series flywheel on it. you can identify the flywheel by the numbers stamped on the backside of it but there is no way to tell if they mismatched the internals of the engine.

call up the engine builders, you shouldn't have waited this long to try and figure out what the problem is because if it is a mis-built engine they may not warranty it.

you didn't happen to put a new flywheel on it? if you did then you probably installed the wrong one and i would start there.

Maybe it's a bad tranmission mount.

basically, my car is having the similar problem like yours, if noise = vibration.
I just changed to poly tranny mounts, and have checked fluid level, and done right about anything I can think of. but the result of after changing the tranny mounts is that
1)I hear more noise at idle(sounds like some rotating assemblies like gears)
2)when I shift into first gear to run the car, the noise got worse like something falling aparts.
3)whenever I accerlate, the noise appears. but it sounds a little better at higher speed like 40MPH.
4)the noise sounds from tranny housing/flywheel area like that.

when I pop my hood, and rev the car to higher rpm, but I don't see much engine vibration. I guess I don't know how to check engine vibration?

anyway, the car is running very sluggish now. chris(brazeracing, where I got the tranny mounts) suggested me to check the engine mounts, and change them if need.

but I am not sure about this:
old tranny mounts + old engine mounts = car has less noise, and run better?
new tranny mounts + old engine mounts = more noise, and run worse??

thanks

A spinning input shaft isn't enough to shake the whole car at idle... In gear maybe as power is transfered through the entire driveline, and evntually lateraly past the tranny mount.

Well, harder mounts will increase the amount of vibration from the drivetrain transfered into the cabin.

I think the vibration problem sounds like an unbalenced rotating assembly (Flywheel!!!!!!)

Not mounts. I have had cars with engine/tranny mounts BROKE and they didn't vibrate at all. Its a missbalance somewere, be it a wrong flywheel, wrong front counter weight or like someone else suggested a belt driven accessary. I have had cars with same symptoms with a fan that was missings a blade, check that your fan is tight and isn't missing chunks or blades. If its not any accessary, most likely a wrong fly or front counter balance.

Sorry I have not got back to the post. I 'm leaning toward a out of balance fly wheel or counter weight. I will double check the fan clutch. I hope MAZDA plant in CA can distingushe the difference between s4 and s5 parts. I wish I did not wait so long. THE engine came with a flywheel on it already. I have replaced the tranny mount as well. It IS DEFINTLEY something to do with rotating assembly. I;m not sure what flywheel I should have it should be all s4 parts.
