we got the engine started and i realized we have a high pressure oil leak that is coming out of a little thing right underneath the oil filter pedestal. i'll attach a pic of it and another pic of a closeup. this is very weird.

This has nothing to do with your leak but Dude replace your stock plug wires. Unless they arent stock... then just ignore me. (but they look stock)

I was about to add that myself....
And if it wasn't broken off you'd REALLY know about it.. (read: oil, lots of it, everywhere, covering everything in reach)

Yes, that is the oild pressure sending unit, and yes it is snapped off.. I snapped one off of an engine once. I used a reverse threaded bit to get it out. I had to drill a pilot hole through 1st with a smaller bit, and then use the reverse threaded one. I did this while the engine was out and on a stand, and it was kind of a pain in the ***. Its going to suck doing it while the engine is in.. Did you snap it off installing it, or is it something you didnt notice prior to it?

Tap the right sized EZOut in with a hammer and it will screw right out.

I would try not to drill all the way into/through it...about halfway should be okay, then start the EZ out and back it out. IT shouldn't be overly tight...you might even take a craftsman screw extractor set and get it out that way.

Drilling all the way will get metal shavings into the engine's oil supply. This = teh fubar bearings.
