Need another color for contrast. Otherwise it looks nice.

yeah.. I'm probably just going to do the irons in standard black.... But, I like of like the idea of having a solid silver engine in my freshly painted black engine bay... Not sure.

look too plain single color but if you like it keep it that way. Looks nice. Maybe add some color to the 13 Mazda badge on it =P

Yeah, that would be a nice touch. If you like the silver that would add a small amount of contrast yet still hold the silver theme/overpowering shininess.

I'd go back on the letters. Easy to read, easy to clean, easy to paint.

My block is gunmetal/black. When I redo it next (hopefully in a long time since that would mean rebuild) I would go with my car color (blue) and something else, probably black.

Yeah when I eventually go to rebuild my engine (myself this time =P) I plan on going Black irons on dark blue housings with the 13B Mazda in black. This is after I paint my car blue of course =P If I can grab some block pictures I'll photoshop other ideas I had for paint designs. (one main color with another shade "trim")

paint the irons black and spray a flat clear coat over the black. paint the MAZDA engravings... red? you could definately play around with it some. How about paint the irons the same color as your car?

Keep it silver just because everyone says you need a contrast. The monochromatic silver looks cool.

i agree with aaroncake on that......
the engine comes stock monochromatic.....
traditionally everyone sees rebuilt engiens painted two tone so thats what they are expecting now suddenly someone is showing them somethign different and they shame it
i think it looks good and i would keep it that way especially just to keep others awake at nite

Red mazda embems would look cool on a red car.. but a black one? Eh... Suppose it depends what color I go with the vacuum hoses. Maybe silver again. Hehe

Blang blang! Maybe I'll throw in some engine-bay lighting to shine it up a little. hehe

Yeah... out of spite! Thats the Aaron Cake I know!

But seriously, I like the way it looks. I'll have to do some of the intake pieces as well and see how it looks together. Might be TOO much silver, but..... It'll definately catch th eye.

i think it will look a million times better when you take off all the masking and everything. i do agree something should be done with the 13b and mazda. one thing you could do is file that part down its natural aluminum color and it will contrast well with the shiny krrrroommmee and stick out. one you get pulleys and all the bolts and plugs and **** on it it will look pretty good i think.

Interesting idea with the filing down of the emblem....... but, I don't think it will matter much. I'll probably just touch it up with some black. Once all of my emissions crap goes back on (and it will, unfortunately), all of my solenoids will be covering that area up for the most part. But I'll be painting/cleaning up everything.. so as long as I keep it tasteful and don't rape the engine bay with ONE single color, I think I'll be good. But I'm definately leaning toward keeping the block solid. I even did a sock exhaust manifold in the stuff... came out looking really good. I wonder how that would hold up. Its the 1200deg duralast stuff. Oh well.... if it lasts it lasts... if it don't.. it don't.

The two-tone is just my opinion, but I'd say at least do the lettering if for no other reason than making the Mazda etc. stand out.

I think it could look pretty cool. Might depend on the rest of engine bay. But i'd give it a shot. I've never seen anyone else do that before, so at least you will be unique.

If you used rattle can engine paint, dont expect it to stay that shiney for long. I did mine in a very similar color, with the irons done a darker bronze color, and the first week of driving it smoked a good bit from the paint burning off. Its still painted and looks ok but most of the shine is now faded to just a flat grey/silver. Looks good though, amazing how rare you see that single color look, seeing as it came that way from the factory.

Highlight the letters on the motor with flat black.
That would be sweet.
I did this on mine.
But my motor is all blue.
And its powder coated manifolds.
Highlighting anything with black looks awesome imo.
