if i were you, i would keep the keg how it is but paint the lettering black. also paint the intake manifolds a contrasting colour (blue is my choice) and have all your wiring loom, spark plug wires, and vac lines the same colour as the manifolds. also get an e-fan the same colour as your manifolds and you got your self a hella sexy engine bay.

just my thoughts but i think that is the way to go. i wish i would have done that to mine, wait i will do that to mine.

Hmm.... black intake manifolds would look weird... Anybody seen a picture of that? I'd LOVE somebody to post one. Might be a good idea. I could polish up the "Mazda" part on the top plenum part with a wire wheel, touch up the lettering with paint.. but that would look great I bet.

sorry this is the only pic i have and its not too good. check out that mess!

here is my brothers with silver intake and black ic

again bad pic. sorry bud

Looks decent! I might go that route. Silver accents.

Also a poor picture. Thats my black IC minus the bezel or whatever you call it. I went with nearly the same silver as you, but di the housings with bronze. I free handed it so the bronze blends into the silver for a smooth transition from rotor housing to side housing. Gives it almost a shark look, how their colors blend so smoothly. I didnt do mine nearly as thorough as yours though. Yours will probably look a ton better.

Um I think It'll just look fine in an engine bay. I really don't care what color it is, when it's on some garage floor. This a a rotary engine...not some piece of modern art. Quit screwing around and get that thing running & humming.

Still waiting for mazdatrix to get on the ball and send me my oil control o-rings.... So I figured I'd start cleaning/painting **** up. Why not. I'm also re-vamping my engine bay with new paint.. so I have some time.

EDIT:

Also... anything worth doing is worth doing right. And if painting it makes me love it more, than thats the right way.

To me, leaving the engine itself as is, then painting all of the brackets, Oil filler neck, the water pump housing and the 13B and Mazda letters black would look good. Would look OEM since they ussualy use either black or silver/natural.

My next question is... what color do you think I should do the throttle body? Also, how easy is it to remove everything from the throttle body and put it all back on? Looks like a pain.... and since I've never done it before... I'm asking.

I'm planning on wire-wheeling the 13B Injection/Mazda stuff so its silver on top of the black.

I think you'd get better results by gluing some sandpaper on a flat piece of metal and sanding the raised lettering.
The edges should turn out crisper.

Yeah. I ditched the wire-wheel method and I flapper-wheel'd it.. Much easier to keep under control... Worked pretty good. I'll get pics on here later.

Any ideas on the throttle body?

If I where you I'd spend the extra money to get them powder coated. I painted my motor with high temp stuff along with a clear coat and as soon as fuel got on those housings the paint came right off along with discoloring the paint it didn't take off. Just a thought.

If there was extra money left over... I'd consider that. Already bought a lot in this project.. New housings, rebuild kits, getting the car painted, etc...

I dumped some gas on a test piece and let it sit for a little bit... wiped it off a couple hours later.. it looked a little stained, but not bad at all. It'll be fine for a while. My goal is to not get fuel on them.

HELL YEAH... I think it looks better if you leave everything black... exceprt the letterings and the block... it directs the eyes to the shiny parts...
