Engine Mount replacement

I'm replacing the engine mounts on my S5 turbo vert.

The Driver's side came out just fine, but I can't get enough clearance to slide the passenger side out.

I'm using the jack under the transmission method.

I've already tried moving the jack over as far as I can on the passenger side, but I still can't slide out the mount, eventually the jack just starts lifting the car up.

Am I missing something?

I chipped 3 teeth doing this too. I used a jack and a super huge *** pry bar to get the mount out. While prying on it, the bar slipped and I double fist punched myself in the jaw.

I eventually busted out the engine hoist along with the jack and prybar, then FINALLY got enough clearance. I'm thinking it'd have been easier to pull the driveshaft, shifter, and drop the transmission mounts and slide the whole drivetrain around as necessary.

I'm a huge fan of my solid aluminum mounts now

i didn't need to hear that...

i usually use the transmission jack along with a cherry picker attached to the passenger side of the engine somewhere solid.

course pulling the aluminum mount off would be easier but you'd then need to drain the oil, clean it thoroughly and apply new sealant to the holes and bolts.

that mustve hurt lol

I dont know if verts engine subframe is different but I normally unbolt the trans mount also, jack up on the tranny with wooden blocks on a jack and unbolt the engine mounts. Of course though, I have solid mounts and they are so much easier to take out and put back in lol

I normally just unbolt the brackets from the block when I need too. Be sure to put sealant on the bolts for the passenger side.

Yeah, I bought the mounts from ^you. I really didn't want to worry about the oil pan bolts leaking if I broke them loose. Now that the Al mounts are in, changing them would be easy. Not that they'll ever go bad though

I'm not sure if it's the convertible's subframe is different, or if it's the engine mounts are different. All I know is that it was a huge pain in the... well... teeth really. I seriously thought I had knocked a few out when I blasted myself.

vert's subframes are the pretty much the same, yea it just took a lot of wiggling and work.
Had everything else already unbolted already, the transmission jack just tried to lift the car after a certain amount.

Sealant is on all of the bolts

ended up just grabbing the front cover with my arm and lifted/rotated the engine until I wiggled the passenger mount out, makes me kinda wish I hadn't loaned my cherrypicker.

Looking forward to driving on these after tuning this weekend
