Engine Harness Types?

Does the Engine Harness on the passenger side of the car have a different name than the wiring on the driver's side? Im in the process of very carefully pulling the wiring out of my '88 so that I can sell it, but to be honest I dont know the differences in all the sets of wiring yet.

the engine harness comes through the firewall on the passenger side is the engine harness and it connects to the ecu under the carpet. there is a different harness that attaches the starter/battery/alt and CAS. there is another harness that goes under the dash and through the firewall on the drivers side and wraps around the front of the car. another one that goes under the dash that is for the dash accessories. and i believe 1 more that covers the rest of the car (tail lights and such). have fun!

I believe the correct name for the pass harness is EM harness, I just refer to as the emissions/engine harness. The drivers side I see called a "charging system" harness

The ENGINE harness runs on the left side of the engine bay and includes the cas plug, lead and trail ignitor plugs etc.

The harness on the right is the EM harness and has plugs going to the injectors/boost sensor etc.

The FRONT harness connects to the EM harness near the passengers feet and travels across the interior to the drivers side.

The best place to know what harness is which, is to download the Wiring diagrams which show the individual harness in the car.

But then again, if you call a harness by its proper name......................well I'll say no more.

The wiring diagrams and harness locations are somewhere in the folling mess:

http://wombat.sevarg.net/RX7/RX-7_Training_Manuals/

http://www.cochran-racing.com/FSM/index.html

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Actually I wrote something wrong. The harness that goes to the coils is a part of the FRONT harness, but the CAS etc are a part of the ENGINE harness.

In the colored picture in the post above this, the FRONT harness is shown in RED.

The ENGINE harness is in BLUE.

The EMISSION harness is in black/white and includes fuel injectors/variable resistor/boost sensor etc.

FRONT harness runs from the passenger side to the drivers side....into the engine compartment and across the front headlight area from left to right.

See FSM for details.

That is the EM Harness. Make sure to specify that it is the one with the Fuel Injection plugs on it since most people don't know the proper names for them.
