Engine harness qeustion
hey i was looking to get a engine harness shortly, ( since mine in the car is a hackjob , fuel injector wires cut , maf cut) i was wondering if i needed only the passenger side wiring harness ( the one that connects to the ecu from the pass side ) i would like to know also if that harness would replace these plugs also , maf , fuel injector connectors, bac valve connector and other lil connectors on the engine ? or would i need the harness that goes thru the drivers firewall ? sorry for the rush but i need to know before the end of the weekend .

dont mean to sound rude but are you 100 % sure lol , im very picky were my money is going to on my rx7 , i dont want to have a harness lying around for nothing. and 1 more thing is it very hard to replace ?
how could you question K-Tune like that you fokkin awshole? haha just kidding.
Anyways, the engine harness is what you need. It connects to the ecu and a few connectors behind the passenger kick panel and goes through the passenger side firewall to the engine where it connects to the afm, boost sensor, then goes to the engine. In order to replace it you'll need to remove the upper intake manifold, so you need the gasket that goes between the upper and lower manifolds. GL!

Just to clarify, it's actually called the emissions harness or EM harness for short. If you look though the FSM wiring diagrams, you'll see the EM reference on just about all the wires at the ECU & also at the front harness connection under the dash. The engine harness is completely separate, and is actually on the driver-side of the bay.

well which one do i need, a member on the forum is selling
S4/S5 Uncut Complete Engine Wiring Harness - $75
S4/S5 Uncut Complete Chassis Harness - $30
S4/S5 Uncut Complete Dash Harness - $50

I don't think he has any of the names correct, so my advice would be to ask for a picture. It's probably going to be what he's calling an "engine wiring harness". Most people don't know the names from the FSM.
The correct names & some things they go to are:
Emissions harness - ECU, engine sensors, front harness connector
Front harness - instrument cluster connector, many things behind dash & up to front of car
Engine harness - CAS, alternator, relays
Instrument cluster harness - cluster
Rear harness - tail lights, fuel pump
Door harness(s) - window switches, speakers, alarm sensors

oh but as i stated above , the major connectors i need are the bac vavle , maf , fuel injetors, and water level , and all of them i believe come from the passanger side firewall and connect to the ecu .
ECU, AFM, MAP, BAC, injectors, coolant temp sensor plug, etc... are all on the emissions harness. The coolant level sender (top of radiator) wire should be part of the front harness, but it's just a simple bullet connector that you easily buy off the shelf.

oh another thing . does the coolent level sender differ for s4 -s5 ? i pulled one off a parts car hoping to replace mine but it has two different connectors ?
I have both a s4 and s5 rad and the sensors were the same for me.
EDIT: i didnt even read your whole post. Im thinking of the low coolant sensor in the top of the rad, there is only 1 wire on the low coolant sensor.

You need the engine harness that Really is going to be for your Series of engine.
you need either an S4 for your s4c or an S5 for your s5.if you are running an S4,you can use Different injectors,(lo or hi.) depending on what ecu you have.
the S5 has different injector connectors and an electric OMP to plug in, so really it can't be used on an S4 Engine.

Easy to change the connector to fit whatever you need.
thanks for the correction rotaryrocket88, I didn't look at the FSM.
Anyways, when you buy this harness aftermarket on this forum or on ebay or whatever will most likely be labeled 'engine harness'.
