engine dies when gas is given?!

When its idling if I go to press the gas it will instantly die unless I really play with the throttle. Dosn't matter if I give it a little gas or alot it will still die unless I basicly pump the **** out of the pedal. Now I have a few assumptions #1 my fuel filter is old and clogged to hell but once I get it above idle it will hold whatever rpm I want to hold it at solid. #2 I may have hooked the injectors up backwards, I know I have the primaries and secondaries right but I may have rotor 1 and 2 swapped. the was a tag on the one injector wire for both primary and seconday injectors, I assumed this was the front rotor is this right? Does it matter? #3 maybe my fuel pump sock is clogged again look at number 1. #4 ... I dunno got any suggestions?

BTW the car is a 1990 n/a GXL

AFM is an easy fix usually, just disconnect the plug on top and clean both ends of the connection with electrioncs cleaner spray let dry and reconnect, and that should hopefully solve your prob.

ok I cleaned the crap out of the afm connector at both ends.... good thing, plugs in easier, bad thing is the problem is still there. I also noticed I'm getting the 3800 rpm hessitation. just so I ease my mind what plugs go to witch injectors... I really have a feeling thats my problem

thanks Zach

while your car is down and no one else has given you an answer start checking your fuel pump see if the sock os clogged get a new fuel filter since you probably need one anyways

and do a search for the FSM (factory service manual) and if you don't already have one get a haynes if you can't find the FSM cause that, i guess, should be able to tell you what wire goes where
