does it rev to 3000rpm?
if so, thats just the accelerated warmup. put the car in gear when you start it to deactivate. otherwise you may have a vacuum leak.

check ur afm is connected, check that the thottle plates arent stuck open, check ur cruise control wire, there can only be couple things that would cause this, so just do a check.

one thing u could do, is have some1 start the car an u stand in the front of the car ready to close the thottle plates so it wont go to full thottle.

Bio: ........ what part of "throttle to the floor" would imply 3000 rpms???? Don't mind me, just supposed to be on my way to my girlfriends (5.25 hour drive) as we speak.

Still no luck more suggestions welcome (haven't tried them all yet either thought )

BTW, thanks to both

Did you mess with any of the throttle linkage.

i think 3000 warmup is no where near being floored, and a vaccum leak wouldnt cause this, a leak would only cause bad idle or not to start at all.

correct me if im wrong, im pretty sure this correct though

rx7raca, you're correct. And since my car is trying to idle-race a ferrari, I don't think it's the vacuum leak or cold-start assist.

well, I won't let it get up to redline, but it wouldn't stop even if I did.

like i said check those things and get back to us. play around with the thottle plates.

another question is when u start the car, do u give it gas? because if u do, then maybe ur thottle cable is getting stuck or the plates on the tb. get back to us with some info.

ok, about the throttle valves, In the manual I'm looking at it shows the three in a triangle, which look ok to me, the move with the pedal appropriately. Now, what about the first two, there's two in the top positions, and an open spot at the bottom, and the two in the top seem to work in reverse, the are open and can move to close, but don't seem to work with the pedal at all. Also, nothing about them in the manual. Time to check the FSM

the two on top towards the front, they're open in all the pictures in the fsm but it never says what they are. Oh well, not important.

yeah, but the open with throttle like they're supposed to, can't test what happens when I turn it on though, noone here to help. It's gotta be some cable that got disconnected.

it woudn't be an electrical problem uless only the tach is moving and not the engine.

otherwise your TB has to be stuff open. without air it's not gona redline.

grap the cables and pull on them. does stuff move? if not it's wide open. should be a bit of slack in the cable. pull on the cable. it's not hard to figure out if it's open or closed

so let's see, you're telling me that if my cruise control got screwed up and it's trying to do 70mph (we'll just go with the last speed I set it at) then my car wouldn't redline?

Sorry, that's electrical problem in my book. I understand what you're saying though.

I've already checked the throttle valves and they look ok, I can't exactly check them though, because it won't start with the intake hose off. I'm guessing that because the AFM thinks there's no air.
