ok, one more time. I just started it up and let it do it's thing for a few seconds. It ran up to 7,000 rpms and stayed there, didn't go up further. By the time I turned it off it was blowing loads of smoke.

You may be burning up your cat. Does anybody know what would happen if he started the car in say 3rd, 4th or 5th gear?

blue smoke out of the tailpipes. Probably just burning oil, it does that sometimes if I hit it too hard right after I turn it on. Hmm.... does this count as my car self-abusing?

Rice-eater: as far as starting the car in other gears, the car can only tell the difference between in gear (1-4), in reverse gear, in 5, and in nuetral. the 5th sensor is only used, i'm pretty sure, to know when to not light the shift light. Reverse is just used to turn on and off the reverse lights. As for the cat, I'm pretty sure it's empty but if not then I'm pretty sure it really has nothing to do with the problem at hand.

I am still stumbed. So you start the car up. It runs normal and then start the incease RPM to 7000. I am un clear of what you are saying

Sorry, that's electrical problem in my book. I understand what you're saying though.

I've already checked the throttle valves and they look ok, I can't exactly check them though, because it won't start with the intake hose off. I'm guessing that because the AFM thinks there's no air.
the cruise doesn't control speed with just electronics, it manually uses it's own throttle cable. so if it's throttle cable is stuck, removing it's fuse shouldn't change that.

well, it does need to have power to run that throttle cable. Just curious, it does run the normal throttle cable correct?

To reclear this up: When I start the car it acts as though the pedal is pushed to the floor and revs up to 7000 rpms. It seems to stay there but I don't wanna run it for too long. The throttle acts normal when the car is off. I watched the throttle last time it started and the only thing that moved was the ??? 2 front throttle valves???? so that's why I think it's got to do with Cruise. I don't understand what's going on though since those are always open and it would be closing them. I didn't see the normal throttle moving and I checked the plates and they didn't move without the throttle control moving.

The cruise and throttle cable are spread from each other

well, I didn't mean the cables themselves, I meant the pieces the cables are connected to that control the throttle plates. That's why I'm confused. How are the throttle plates not moving yet I'm running up to 7000. You think maybe one of the plates is off position?
