eclipse turbo

hey everyone, i have a 1988 gtu and i want to put a turbo on it. my friends has a stock eclipse turbo off his 1997 gst. is it possibly to put that turbo on my car? all i would need is a turbo exhaust manifold, wastegate , blowoff valve, and a oil line. right?

does someone make a plug in so i can disconnect my mass airflow sensor?

thanks.

you`re gonna get creamed for not searching.
Do a search for "turbo conversion" tons of info to help you out.
Don`t know if you will find much of anything concerning the Eclipse.

To go along with the other post about it being too small.

A rotary engine works much different than a piston engine. A turbo that can make 300rwhp on a piston engine will NOT make 300rwhp on a rotary. It will make drastically less. Somewhere in the region of 20-30% less.

A good example of this is with a GT35R turbo. Piston guys make upwards of 500rwhp on this turbo..a rotary? Not a chance. Maybe 350rwhp.

That said, the stock Eclipse/Talon turbo is too small for even the Eclipse/Talon ....

It is a good size for a tractor, though. Literally.

Eclipse Turbos are way too small for any 13B (and 12A too for that matter).

Piston guys also run a lot more boost than the typical 1 bar 13b...

yeah, never mind the fact that you would be pumping extra air (though not much) into your motor and no extra fuel. Fuel managment is the key to any turbo charging system.

If you are serious about aftermarket turbo charging think about that first, then decide what turbo you will use.

You would probably need two of them to flow enough for no power change.

IT'S TOO SMALL.
Do you need more clarification for that statement?

You should read up on turbo technology before even trying to do something like this.
I suggest reading Hugh McInnes "Turbocharging" or Corky Bell's "Maximum Boost" for more info.

if you have the exhaust manifold custom built you can put any turbo on your FC. Just know if you keep the weak stock computer you better have some way of retarding the ignition by way of MSD or else. If you don't you have wasted your money turbo charging an engine that will last a tank of gas.

There is no point in putting a T25 manifold on a Rx-7. If you are going to do anything Mitsubishi, you need a TD05 manifold and at least a 20G turbo. Somebody makes some kind of kit for this... Greddy? HKS?

Oh and let me do you a favor and tell you this right now: Just buy a Turbo II. Don't even think about a turbo conversion on a nonturbo motor. It's a lot of custom stuff. There are guys who do this on the forums, but they do it just to be different, and they do it because they like custom fabrication.

is this your first indevor into a project like this?

If so thats fine but do some research in the basic principles before you jump into a project you arent going to finish.

There are a lot of threads on this forum about turbo charging an N/A car. Do some reading and go from there. If there is something that you don't understand then seach for a previous thread, if you dont find your answer then create a new thread.
