Bad Coolant Seals PLease Help?
Bad Coolant Seals PLease Help?
I have an 86' RX7 i have been fighting a bad coolant leak, yet it is not visible or under chassis. I have put a new radiator cap, water pump, thermostat, and radiator. My coolant buzzer goes off and i lose about a pint every 5-10 miles. It seems to stops buzzing when the thermostat opens but yet is very intermittent. It seems to be going into my overflow but won't come back. I have seen a white liquid in my oil filler neck and condensation on top of the cap. I was wondering if i have bad seals or what. I also seen bubbles coming from my overflow tank please help.I put in aftermarket gauges and i am not overheating while buzzing please help cause if it's something easy i don't want to blow my motor though i think it is the seals thanks

That doesn't sound good.
With the car totally cold, pull the rad cap and then start the engine. Do you see a steady stream of bubbles coming to the surface that increases when you rev the engine? If so, then that's a classic sign of a bad coolant seal (either caused by seal failure itself, or damage to the o-ring groove).

Also, are you getting white smoke thats kinda sweet smelling? Thats also a sign of an internal coolant leak.
Your car sounds almost like mine after I overheated it. There was a "mystery" coolant leak and it would overflow into the coolant bottle but not come back. It turned out that there was a crack in the o-ring passage which was causing the small leak I had been having since I bought it, then the overheating it toasted the o-ring.

i am not getting the white smoke but i did notice that when i used to start my car up it would tach kinda high fo about 30 seconds then drop down to regular idle rpm's but now it does do the initial start up reving it stasrts and stays idle, but no smoke.

That odd that it doesn't smoke. Did you check at startup? Mine didn't smoke during operation, but if had been sitting for a while, like overnight, it would smoke a lot for a minute or so.
