Question Ebay adjustable Shocks, which set to choose?

Option 1 ($340)

Option 2 ($420)

Why are the tokicos' more Expensive, are they better or should i just get the kyb?

Tokicos. All that I've ever seen and read about the AGX's are that they are stiffer, but definitely don't last as long and can blow easily. But that's just what I've seen and read.

I have the AGXs on my 2nd gen and the Illuminas on the 1st gen. The lluminas adjust from the top only, pita for the rears, you have to take the speakers out to adjust them. The AGXs adjust at the bottom, under the car, for the rears. Can't say much about the differences between the 2 because the 2 cars are set up quite differently.

I did shocks, struts and springs at the same time. Car had less than 100k on it at the time.

The ride is stiffer, thumpier and corners much better. I haven't played with the settings much, except at the track, and adjusted them the wrong way. (doh!)

All in all they are good, I sometimes think I should have gone for the Tokico blues, kept the stock springs and upgraded the sway bars. This being my dd and highway car.

The 1st gen is the toy car and it handles and corners like a gocart.

i have Tokico Illumina with GC kit,
Illumina shocks are pretty nice, they are a pita to adjust in the back, but well how often do u adjust it? =D its cool u can adjust it, but i just figure out a setting i like, and set it at that...

they're a little rough... thats true, but the handling is great, and my girlfriend is not complaining, so eeeh, who cares about it being rough... =D

I've heard good about AGX, my friend with a miata has them with GC kit also, so i guess either one can be good. But i'll stick to Illuminas (why change? =)

I have a friend that has an 87 TII with 160k on it. He has not touched the suspension. When he put his new tires on we out to a tight S curve that enters a 4-lane. The car still stayed flat and that is one of the few times i was looking for the 'Oh ****" handle.

The stock TII sway bars and the new tires were what made the differnce between his 87 TII and my 87 SE. I also run 16x7 rims, but the tires are getting thin.

His car rides nicer than mine, and will corner as well as mine.

I attribute the major difference to the TII sway bars. The ST bars on my 1st gen made a big difference also.

The TII sway bars will fit, they are a larger diameter, so you need all the connecting brackets. If you can find a set at a savage yard, it will probably be cheaper than the after market ones. Either would be a good choice. Iirc the vert bars are larger also and may be the same as the TII's, but don't quote me on that one.

I have the kyb's on RB springs and its a very stiff ride, even with them set soft. I like them, but a bit harsh for daily driving.

i daily drive with AGX and SuspTech springs. i've gotten used to it. and i drive on some really crappy roads. i don't think its bouncy at all. my gf's 2ndgen talon is just as bad and it's stock.

the vert sway bar is actually the largest of all FC sway bars, it is larger than the T2 even. it needs a larger sway bar since it has no structural support, ie. no roof frame.
