easier ATF trick!

This week end I went to my mom's house to visit. 250+ mile trip. I needed gas befor I left and wnated to add some Marvel Mystery oil, but there were no car parts stors close and Wallie World takes too much time. so I go into the Stop and Rob to see what they had. only cheap injector cleaner additives. But they had ATF in 16 oz bottles. It had occured to me that Marvel Oil was just fancy ATF a few weeks ago. You know red, slickery and has detergents, right. So I bought the ATF and just to be safe on the lubeing stuff I bought som 2 cycle too.
So I am up to 8 oz 2 cycle and 16 oz ATF. put them into the tank and then fulled up.
At first the car seemed to run the same. later I noticed that the fuel economy sucked! just past 1/4 tank and only gone 37 miles!
The fuel eco improved during the trip. by the time I made it to my mom's town I was down to less than 1/4 tank left. But I noticed improved throttle response and power. very cool.
So I wait to refill untill I am ready to head back home.
One the way home it rained like the second coming of crist. Because I was paying attention to the road I missed an important turn and didn't realise it untill about 35 miles later. ( both roads look the same for a while, country very few houses yada yada yada)
So I had to turn around. costin me an aditional 70 miles to my already 250 mile trip. when I made it home, I had over 1/4 tank fuel. and still had the extra power. I gained about 1/8 tank on the return trip. I don't know if this works as well as the first AFT trick but it helps.
If I would have thought about it and had the time I would have pulled my plugs before and after to see whats up inside.
I also don't know if this will work as well for city driving. I would be concerned about fouling and goop.

I had thought about it as well, but the thing is that the ATF will work only if you let it sit (and for many hours). Of course the heat of the burn cycle within the engine will help, but not much. You could have had the same effect by adding a couple bottles of engine/injector cleaner in a full tank....I think....
Anyway, let us know how it works out after a couple of days...

I think most people advise against putting ATF in the gas tank.
You are right about MMO just being fancy ATF, though.
