what kind of differential do i have?

ok. while my car was on stands (right before I changed the diff. mount) I decided to spin one of my tires, just to see what the other one did. I spun one of them and the other did not do anything. It just stayed stopped. So I spun the other one tire and the other tire did not spin at all. Just stayed there. Is it supposed to do this? Isnt one tire supposed to spin the opposite direction or spin the same direction if you have lsd??

Yes it is supposed to do that if you have an LSD, which you don't if your car is an SE.

sounds like you have a worn or after 6/88 LSD to me.

If you didn't have an LSD with both rear tires in the air and the car in nuetral the opposite tire would spin the opposit direction.

I noticed I had what looked to be two plugs in the back of the diff. one in the middle of the differential and another right above it. Does taht sound like an LSD diff?? Any one have a picture of the back of an LSD diff? thanks.

If the LSD tag is still there, it should obviously say so.&nbsp The two plugs are (top) for fill and (bottom) for drain.&nbsp There is no way you can tell it has an LSD just by looking at the rear diff.

Doing a burn-out will show if one or two tires are spinning.

Your 1988 SE is a base model, so I doubt you got one.
