Do you have the FSM? If not, you really need it. Check out the online version at www.fc3s.org

Go to the 89 manual at http://www.iluvmyrx7.com and look at the 89fsm. Go to the ENGINE section, page C-59. That's about as clear as it will get. There is only one thrust washer, and it goes on the back of the balance weight. The END PLAY, is adjusted with the Spacer, which comes in different thicknesses.

Or are you really interested is how the needle bearing fits on the spacer, and how to make sure its not going to fall down? That is shown on the next page C-60. I'd offer up a jpg, but this site is impossible to attach squat to anymore.

This http://www.mazdatrix.com/faq/pulley.htm might/might not helpl.

One more thing -> I've been considering writing a webpage that best explains this as it's ambiguously-detailed in the shop manual at best. One thing to note is that the thrust washer goes on *one way* and is not uniform. Look at this picture closely:

http://bdc.cyberosity.com/pictures/1...rustWasher.Jpg

Notice that the inside of the thrust washer is beveled. It goes on the eccentric shaft one way to match the bevelling at the end prior to it tapering off.

If this is installed wrong, your end-play will be almost zero and the rotating assembly will be so tight that it'll flush itself down the toilet by killing the front needle bearings and thrust assembly eventually.
