Question dumb question but..

i feel dumb but i am looking at a:

Trim : GX
Description : 1988 MAZDA RX-7 GX, 5,000 kms on rebuilt A12 motor, 167,225kms on car, Great condition inside & out, $4,700.
copied and pasted

is that the original motor?and isnt it the gxl?

A12...Correct me if I'm wrong, maybe that might be a first gen motor? Otherwise it is a 13b. And I b3lieve it is a gxl insted of a GX. It could be a SE or a GTU

on the top of the rotor housings, it will say wether it's a 12A or 13B. also, maybe the canadian model was a GX rather than GXL. i don't know.

GX is the bottom class..
No power windows, locks etc...

GXL has power windows, limited slip(s4's) etc..

it's a "12a", not an "a12". first gen motor used from 78-83. i believe 84 was the begining of the 13b. 12a's are carburated, not fuel injected. you do not have the orig. motor in there.

84 and 85 gsl-ses has 13Bs and were efi, but there were also 12as. i doubt its a 12a motor unless its a regulated racecar.

Gx is a canadian only model. basicly the lowest.

I would guess that someone doesn't know what he has. I would stay away from rx7s sold from someone who doesn't know what he's selling.
