Dumb car....

Ok.... I went to findlay this morning for an interview at red lobster... when i turn off the ignition, the car takes a few seconds to die out then the air and all the idiot lights stay on, which i assume kills my battery. It also seems like my car isn't even recognizing the fact that I have a turbo timer... any suggestions?

oh, man....red lobster sounds good right about now...hmm...

so you actually have removed the key, and the lights and air is still on? do the power windows/locks work?

Put the key back in the ignition and make sure you turned it all the way off before removing the key...My friends' Toyota does this (he can even remove the key with it running!) and I think it's just a messed up ignition...

My old car did the same thing with the key coming out. It wasn't so bad at first but it got worse and worse and it got to the point that if I didn't turn the key all the way back to where it physically stopped before I took it out, the car could be restarted with no key. Amusing at first...but it gets old...just my .02

Hey man, you've got a 14 year old car whose ignition switch was probably never oiled. I'm sure you will see the wear when you restore the switch.

I think it's definitely the turbo timer. Usually the ignition will have intermittent problems before it goes out. (not out of the question though) The turbo timer has more circuitry, there's more that can go wrong. Could be as simple as some cold solder joints in the timer somewhere.
