Question dtss eliminator bushing installation

I'm thinking about installing dtss eliminator bushings.

I've searched here and read the mazdatrix writeup.

I'm no mechanic and don't have any special tools (press, hub puller thing, etc). I was wondering if it would be a bad idea for me to attempt this. I doubt any local mechanics would be able to do this since it's a unique part.

this part of the mazdatrix installation confused me:
"It is FAR easier to then cut the dust shield and "spiral" it off, that way the hub does not have to be removed from the carrier."

i don't understand the point of this step, since you have to take the hub and carrier off anyway, and can the dust shield be back on when you're finished, or do you have to get a new one?

to make sure i've got things right (red-hub, blue-carrier):

i found it eaiser that it looked. Although most of the things people say is hard tends to be a bit over done. Its not hard and the pressing equipment is the only specialty tools you need. I didnt press out the bearings or anything. I just removed the spindal and pressing them in. I even still kept the dust shield on.

Ya, its not difficult to do. You just need a press.

you can find a shop,, Most shops have a press and most will press the bushings in for you if you show them how to go in

I did mine that way, but I used a threaded rod instead of long bolts. It works just fine.

It took me far less time to do it that way than it would have taken to take the hubs off, drive into town, get the old ones pressed out, get the new ones pressed in, drive home, and then put them on. Actually getting the bushings in and out took about 30-40 minutes total, town is a 20 minute drive away for me.
