cusco 6point roll cage help!

I'm trying to install a cusco 6 point roll cage into my tII. I took some pics for some of you to see where I'm having some issues. I am test fitting it and have it all zip tied in place. I'm trying to figure out if the front side bars are in the proper place. when I try to close the doors they rub a bit on the side bars. I readjusted the cage some what so I can have a bit more clearance so it doesn't
rub. I now have clearance and the doors don't rub at all. my question is does the front side bar mounts should be bolted in sitting on the door frame? it seems by the way they are made it should, but when I did seat them thats when I have clearance issues. alright enough of my ramblings, I just need some opinions on what can I do. all answers will be much appreciated.

im not too familiar with the 6 point bar... but i myself have put in the 5 point bar in my fc. the mounts by the seatbelt has these bulges in the floor that i had to hammer down. i used a rubber mallet and just did it... then it fits fine. hope that helps some.

Make sure to put the forward bars as far out as possible, then cut the doors to fit. In the picture the tubes are unsupported directly below, you must butt them up against the sills so that there's a direct load path from the tube to the body of the car, otherwise in a roll over the tubes will bend the mounting plates and could potentially break off or bend into you and cause more injury to you than not having them in place.

I also hope you know that that doesn't really count as a cage for almost any sanctionned motorsports, so if that's what you bought it for then it'll need to be modified and reinforced.

that cage is more trouble than its worth. if you want ill pay you shipping and the fair market value for steel recycling and take it off your hands. but seriously it isnt sanctioned for anything which is sad but like tfc3h said. i would rather modify the door so it sits right over having it not supported and the door be ok. unless its just for show and has no real potential of it rolling.

thanks for the tips guys. I knew this particular cage wasn't legal for autox and such when I purchased it. I will not part with it either. I will take a crack at it tomorrow. thanks again.

Well there's actually no such thing as an "SCCA approved" roll bar or cage. They can be made to the SCCA rules, but they don't pre-approve anything.

Most autocross organizations and classes don't require any rollover protection, and most competitors don't run them since they add significant weight up high, where you least want it.
