Driving+Overboost+Chainsaw=Blown?

running the past couple days and mapped it real rich, but my boost controller isnt working and its overboosting (up to 1.5 bar!) but its only short and I back it off (trying to tune it). Then I boosted it again and it seemed like it lost all power. Took it out later, hard to start, low vac, but it still boosts like crazy and makes power. Sounds way different now though I think its blown, but it still makes good power and spools the turbo the same.

Boosted 1.67Kg/cm2 max, on 91 gas, on s5 turbo, on a jspec, boost controller wasn't working right It handled that though, then I boosted later like 1.1kg/cm2 and it ran outta power. I drove it around alot real real before all of this all day rich (10/11-1) and I think its carboned out, sprayed some water down it at 3k in the yard and cleaned out the plugs, all kinds of black crud on plugs.

It ran way better and started up better after the water and plug cleaning. But I am kinda scared still

Hows the idle? Steady or rough? There is one way to tell, compression test it.

Why in the hell would you do that?!?

Are you sure an intercooler pipe didn't pop off or crack? Of course, a compression check will be a 100% indicator of internal engine condition.

Yea I thought about this today, I think you may have just blown off an ic connection. You said you are still getting plenty of boost, right? If the engine blows an apex seal will chew threw the turbo too, so you wouldn't be seeing that much boost. As mentioned do a comp test....

It boosts fine, idles pretty good for being so rich. So boost hoses blew off though, fixed all of that before we boosted that high.

Do you know what it is like at 25psi? Oh my god, i think the car just feels slow after 25psi, I can't believe it held together, my mad tuning skillz

Its hard to be careful, the car wants to go, i can't accelerate without boosting, and a boost controller hose blew off.

Was Racing a ls1 camaro from about 60, we were about even to 80 when all of a sudden I walked about 6 car lengths on him, peak hold on avc-r told me I hit almost 1.7km/cm2

I think the car might be fine, not sure, getting like 40mmHg at idle which was what I was getting more.

You must have missed the memo, ATF is the solution for everything with a rotary

Mine ate 3 seals and my turbo is fine.

no, if any seals got stuck with carbon, which happened to my friend, it wouldnt want to start, and when it did it sounded like a chainsaw, he left some ATF in overnight, and it started and ran fine. so ya, ATF is the solution to stuck seals in a rotary

Actually, the solution to stuck seals is engine disassembly. Seals will not become carbon locked in a car that is driven and abused regularily.

It is. Happened to me too. A seal flew on my front rotor, and took the other two out. Turbo was fine though.

I bought these silicon vacum lines from a local speed shop. They are good from 30inches to 24psi of vac/pressure. At that boost anything can go.
