still wont start with a key

my rebuilt engine still wont start with a key. have to push to get it going, leave it idle at around 1500-2500rpms for a few hrs. we've got about 15hrs or so in of just idling(jammed something in to keep the speed, TPS still wont adjust). any idea why it wont start yet? how do i fix this... im really bummed about having to spend money for gas, but not being able to drive the car.
thanx

Is it flooding? I've heard new rebuilds like to flood until full compression is built up from the apex seals seating in.

When you do push start it, does it fast idle at first like it should?

What do you mean the TPS won't adjust? You're doing it on the car when it's fully warm right?

How's the compression? You really need to complete the breakin process. Rebuilds (especially on marginal housings) can take a while to properly break in.

I had to pull start mine at 40 mph in 2nd get to get here to fire up, you might try that, sound like you might have another problem, did you measure the endplay?

Sounds like you have yourself a few vacuum leaks to me.

A good size vacuum leak WILL cause hard start/no start not to mention a **** poor idle.

When I rebuilt mine, it didnt flood once. The only trouble I had was with vacuum leaks.

But I also bought rebuilt fuel injectors from NOPI for ~$25 each. Worth the money...
