Drivetrain Swap

Okay so I am in the middle of a N/A T2 swap. I got a T2 engine with T2 flywheel bolted to a n/a plate and disc, with n/a throwout, ect... I am gonna get a turbo clutch, pp,throw-out and slave cylinder, ss braided clutch hose. Will all this work on the n/a tranny? Do I need anything else? Please don't give me any "well in theory" answers b/c you will only confuse me and I really don't want false info right now. Only give me an answer that you can actually verify. Thanks guru's

If I were you I'd go for the TII tranny. That N/A tranny won't hold up for long.
BTW, for putting a turbo on your GTUs, I HATE YOU!!!!!!

Hey I didn't do it!!! I am just finishing what was already started. How much will a GOOD TII tranny run me? It won't be a big deal to hook up this new clutch, drive(normal) for a month to save up money for a TII tranny so for now I will go n/a, but I just want to make sure it is going to bolt so I'm not sitting there trying to lift a tranny onto the motor and finding out it aint gonna run right.
BTW, is a notchy 3rd gear shift normal, I read somewhere that Redline helps but rebuild is best way to go.

What is up fellow GTUs -> TII person . Ok here is the skinny of the situation. First off if you have a S5 motor you have to use a S5 flywheel (to balance the assembly). Ok second thing if you are using a N/A tranny use the N/A flywheel, clutch, starter, etc. If you are using the Turbo tranny use the turbo flywheel........ understand? PM or respond with any other questions. Let see some pics of your conversion. I will be posting up a 3rd installment of mine in a couple of weeks.

NO, it will not. The TII clutch disk, flywheel, etc. is larger than the NA unit. Use an high-performance NA clutch and PP if you want to keep the NA transmission. The NA transmission is pretty marginal for even a stock TII though- you'll probably break it pretty quick. You will need an NA flywheel of the same year as the engine- balance is the same for NA and TII of the same year.

I have the opposite- NA motor with TII drivetrain in my 'vert. I had to change the flywheel, clutch, pp, and starter to a TII unit.

Ok... one more thing... I saw you mention using a TII tranny in your most recent post. To do that, you will either need to swap the differential and halfshafts (it's easiest just to swap the whole subframe with all that as a unit, like I did) OR you will need to have a driveshaft made or modified to fit. The flange on the differential is different so the TII driveshaft won't bolt to it... and the yoke on the front of the driveshaft is larger on the TII unit, so you can't use the NA one. An AUTOMATIC driveshaft is rumored to work, but the length is a bit different so I would be wary.

TII clutch slave and NA clutch slave are differnent. They must match the tranny.

To ragtop
I have TII motor and flywheel, the n/a clutch,pp and tranny are working fine right now hooked up to the flywheel....so you are wrong there. Now you are confusing me!!!!!!! So when you say they won't work like this, I am proving you wrong everytime i shift!!! I do not want IN THEORY ANSWERS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! You all say something to contradict my current running setup like it isn't going to work, but it has been doing fine for nearly 3 years!!! Sorry but I am frustrated....Can someone give me a accurate amout of money the drivetrain will cost from tranny back...btw I would hate to give up my 4.30 rear end.....And would I be able to use my differential if I moddified a driveshaft? And would that be more cost effective than a whole differential half-shaft change? BTW I have only 8 months of rotary expeirence.
