Don't you just love LEXAN? =]

Hey 1987RX7guy...is it actually flat and bends when you mount it, or does it come with a slight contour to it to match the roof? I found a local source of tinted Lexan for a good price and I'm going to make a non-movable sunroof for my TII. If it turns out good, I'll produce a few and sell them on the forum. It would be cheaper than the one you have, but only because it will be a non-movable version and won't require as much hardware.

I don't see how it would be cheaper because its non-removable. You woudl still have to use the mounts unless you came up with an independant mounting style which would require fabrication. It took a bit of working with my roof to get the contour just right but it comes flat. Once mounted it is a bit easier to form it to the contour.

I would buy this in an instant if the bolts were hidden on top...I just don't like seeing those 6 uneven bolting points from outside of the car. If there was a way to make it look stock I'd buy it and paint it body color.

how can people even consider mentioning how it'd be easier to break into the car from the roof? that thing could be made of half a mm of glass and still be more trouble for a robber to break and climb into the car. does no one know how easy it is to get into a second gen? there was a thread on it. its rediculously easy. i think people just like to attack Santiago sometimes. ah well *hops on bandwagon* "KILL SANTIAGO!!*

It was insured by UPS default, but I'm guessing UPS is bitching about how it was shipped. I have't heard from the seller in about a week and half after he told me he was contacting UPS to get the insurance claim forms.

the only gripe i have with the lexan sunroof is wind noise (it gets loud once you get going, when it gets to me i crack the sunroof open which helps) - and at some point one of my friends must have slid their bag or something over it, so there's a faint scratch mark that i can't get off. (what can be used to smooth down lexan? anyone? bueller?) but it's more than worth it to have a light sunroof that doesn't stick and is clear enough to let a little light in but smoked enough to keep the car from heating up too much. i wish i could smoke my hatch to the same shade. and it looks very clean from the outside - the bolts are hardly noticeable.
as to the naysayers who don't have anything better to do with their life than to **** around on this thread saying "i could have made it for cheaper, it looks bad, blah blah blah" - do i really have to say STFU? go ahead and make one yourself, we'll see how it looks, and if you don't want a lightweight lexan sunroof then wtf are you doing on this thread? jesus. go trade your rotary for a mustang - it'd suit your stupid *** better - and leave us alone.
