James is correct! Luis' top "looks" like he used flat-head carriage bolts and Santiago's looks like he used the stock bolts? Santiago, Luis' is a nice, clean install and you should get the same bolts--makes for a better finish and protects you from thieves.

I beleive the reason Luis's roof looks darder is because he had one "tinted" ours are smoked. That an I used flash at night and his pic is in the day. I think that makes a difference too.

James, You can't unbolt this from the outsied. The heads of the bolts are smooth on the top so you can't use a wrench on them.

Thumbs up

Looks good Santiago. If your going to leave it that light and seethrough, I would recommend painting the undersides of the roof so it covers up the mounting brackets. Once you have done that and painted the bolts that will leave a much cleaner and sharper look to it. And just a reminder also, if your going to have the roof off the car agin dont forget it would be a good time to clean the tracks if needed .

Im going to have to see how it looks in the day to see if I should paint the sides/rear of it. But i wouldn't even know what to use to do that. Oh well.

How thick is it? How does the Rockwell Hardness scale work? Lucite is rated at M102 Polycarbonate AR is rated at M70 and polycarb GP is rated at R118

I have noticed that on anything I have ever done with Lexan, it will dull very quickly if washed and dried. Whether it is the soap or the towel itself, within about 6 months is becomes slightly blurry to look through. It is also very easy to scratch.

Hopefully that doesn't happen here. It says your supposed to clean it with warm soapy water IIRC.

That's what I use. But I believe the dullness comes from sunlight, general wear and tear, and drying. The dust seems to etch itself into the Lexan.

go ahead and tint it santaigo. We just tinted one of ours, and It looks awesome. Plus It will protect it from scratching.

If I do the group buy again, I will leave is at the same the same price. Right now we're trying to find out a nice way to cover the rails from the inside so it looks cleaner.

BTW: you should install the seal so that the ends meet at the back of the roof. I think it looks better that way.

Luis

That's a pretty ignorant thing to say. Ever looked at the seats for the SFI 25.1C Chassis (which require bolting to the chassis at the back and the floor)? They are ~$70 and are sfety rated for crashes in cars netting a 6.30 or slower ET.

If you don't know what you're talking about, then don;t comment. Period.

I also find it ironic that someone points out a carbon fiber part, you state that anyone buying them has a small *****. Take a look at any higher-level class of racing and count the amount of CF you see there. It certainly takes more ***** to hit straight-away speeds of 320+ km/hr than it does to pilot a $5000 street-car.

Yeah, But he very well wasn't going to be buying those seats. Look at what he posted. APC junk. I wouldn't trust that company with my life. But you did get me on that one.

On CF parts. You can not deny that most of the reason for buying CF products is for "status". If you can say that people buy CF for ONLY is structural/weight benefits you have to be lying through your teeth. Its become a "fad" product and noone can deny it.

If your talking about people that are actually using it on race cars then obviously there are performance reasons for using CF as it does actually have good benefits. But these guys aren't buying it for those purposes.

They buy it b/c it looks nicer than stock. This is the same reason you bought yours. I would certainly take a CF sunroof over bolts and a rubber rim sticking out the top of my car, but that's just me. I like my cars to appear flush.
Is there no way to countersink those bolts?

If you really want to get into it, a CF sunroof provides a performance advantage in its lower weight, where as your raised rubber sealing edge decreases the cars aerodynamics, decreasing its overall performance.

They will be counter sunk when I get it installed. This was just a test fit.

And if we are getting into it(civil):

The lexan roof weighs less than the stock one aswell. And the stock seal sticks out on all 3 of my FC's so how is the seal on the lexan one different?

Aaron - Do you think that the lexan would hold up better if given a generous coat of pure canuba wax right after it's installed (for the final time)?

Man just from looking at it I know its going to own. You all really need to hand it to Luis he came through for us huge on this!

Nice. I'm curious if 3/16" acrylic sheet could be heat-gun contoured to the stock rear window. Dimensions would be slighly off, but cut it a little large to allow for bolt-down flange.
