MN car died going to work

rx7 1988 GTU NA

problems and notes:
oil pressure low (need oil)
oil leak from front cover (oil pressure low because i leaked out all my oil)
bad battery (had it for 8 months, regretting it now...)
starter wire to battery was very hot (going to fix it today maybe...)
rear passenger shocks dead (need new shocks and springs)

so i was driving to work and i decided to accelerate up to 80+mph on a straight, as i let go and go into neutral roll. i see my idiot lights are on, i press the gas pedal... no reaction. so i use the roll start method and pop it into gear. it turns over, and i'm back up, but when i let go again. it dies, then we got stuck the exit light. i had problems restarting the rx7 as it would not start up, but i'm glad my younger brother was there and plus we had a little hill... so i tried the push start method and it worked great... until the next light, i should of left it in gear. i was at the stop light and i had to keep revving the engine at 1500-2000 to keep a low rpm but live motor. then when i tried switching it into gear, i killed it again... luckily a guy came and helped me tow my car to work, i'm at work sad now... rethinking my life over...

can anyone help tell me what is wrong? i'm very sad, and i need to take my baby home... i work 25 miles away from home...

Sounds to me like you may have popped off a vacuum line. There is one in particular on the driver side that controls the idler, and this has popped off on me twice...kinda annoying.

hmm... intriguing... but i didnt even step hard on it.... i just pressed down slightly on the accelerator and it just kept going. i was already doing 65. then all of a sudden it just kept dying...

it may have seem as if i flooded it too in the process... :P i got it to start now... lots of smoking, i did the first flood technique and then i was about to do the second, but i also added a few roll outs to see if that would work too... didnt seem to help but i finally got it to start. lots of smoke! :P

on a update:

new battery
2 quarts of oil (+ oil pressure up)
fixed the starter wiring
order a set of tokiko's
order a set of tein lowering springs

To me, sounds like your charging system might have given out.

+1
Check for bad grounds...they'll cause all kinds of crazy ****. I went through 2 alternators before I realized it was a bad ground. Mine was the starter ground..maybe you could start there. Your alternator may be fried because of this, hopefully this helps.

check the alternator belt's tension. next, there are many vacuum lines to be checked. download the fsm and go through each vacuum line based on the routing from the fsm. keep us posted.

ok, well after the past days... its been running fine again... i dont know what the issue was, but i do know it was heavily flooded... i got that done and over with.

no vac lines missing and noting, but it bogs sometimes and wont let me accelerate sometimes in first second and third. i would then have to shift of just depress the clutch.
