doesn't return to idle.... dashpot??
Day 1:recently i posted that i have a fudged up idle... and i found at least some of the problems.... pressure sensor on pass by wheel well was off.. plugged hose back on... heard whistling, found another leak on the engine side of the relief soleniod... idle steady now
Day 2: driving to school, coming to a stop idle stays at about 1100, held the brakes and let the clutch out a little to get the RPMS down, they dropped to about 500, i put the clutch back in and the idle went up to 750.. AND STAYED... weird?? it does it about 9 out of 10 stops
Q: what could it be? Dashpot maybe? that drops the idle right?
Thanks, Paul

don't you just hate high idle? it's ******* with my head right now.
fero, when you start your car in the morning, does it do its cold start thing at 3000k then 1500k then settle at around 1100k?
what mine does is that, when cold, it starts at 2200k, then 1500k, then anywhere from 1100-1500k... WTF? could that be that the thermowax is old? i just wanted to know what your car does when it starts in the morning.
of course there are about 10-15 reasons why there could be a high idle. i'm just guessing that it's old thermowax like ponykiller said..

it does high idle, then sometimes it stops at 1100 and sometimes it'll go down to 750.... it has the high idle for me even after being on the highway for 20 min.... but like i said if i make it drop to below 750 w/ the clutch it will only rise to there.... but if i don't...
it's like something is holding it high... i only say that b/c when i force it down it stays, like whatever was holding it there released it....

mine does exactly the same thing... expecialy when im sitting at a light at 1100 and have it in gear and i just slightly let out the clutch to get the rpm's to drop it will go and settle right at 750... but if i rev it up again its kinda random if it will go back to 750 or it will sit around 1100

exactly.... anyone have any ideas???
also, is there an easy way to check for vaccum leaks other than just looking for them and listening??
and is the thermowax easy to replace? needed?
