Does this sound right?

Alright here's my situation.
I have an S4 Base model Automatic Transmission.

My current plan is to pick up an S5 T2 tranny and flywheel this weekend.
In the mean time I'm going to order a turbo clutch (clutches are interchangeable between turbo to turbo and NA to NA right? series doesn't matter?)

Also will be buying new Clutch master and slave cylinders.
Lastly, I've been told I can use my automatic driveshaft and my automatic starter for this swap?
And for the crossmember I won't be needing one if I'm going to make an automatic->manual adapter correct?

After reading and searching this is what I've put together.
Just want to make sure everything's right.

Let me know,
Thanks in advance.

and dont forget that you need the clutch pedal assembly! and what are you going to do about the rear counter weight? cause you could get an aftermarket flywheel instead of an oem one!

and i think that the driveshaft may not fit...... not too sure! you may need a turbo one

for the flywheel you will just use the auto trannys counter weight.

so everything sounds good right?
Also one last question.
The Turbo trannies are identical except for the engine mounts and final gear right?
So that means later on when I have more money I can just buy a S4 T2 engine and swap that in?

That's my plan in the long run.

Yeah, they're the same except for the 5th gear ratios & mounts/crossmembers.

For US models:
S4 - 0.762
S5 - 0.719

For Japanese models:
S4 & S5 - 0.806

S4 & S5 turbo flywheels are the same. You can bolt a S4 trans onto a S5 motor and vice versa with no problems.

if i put an S4 tii motor in later on I'd need a different flywheel?
I thought the flywheels were interchangeable between turbo to turbo.
Maybe I'm wrong.
It's just the counterweight that matters right?

I was told you need the TII driveshaft thing, spindle? that mates to the transmission, the auto one wont work by it's self.

Please note that I never did this, I still have a automatic, I was just told to get a TII tranny and when I mentioned needing a new driveshaft person said automatic one will work just requires a part off a TII driveshaft.

The auto driveshaft will fit, but it is not as long as a TII driveshaft. It will not slide as far onto the transmission output shaft. You'd be better off with a custom TII/NA driveshaft from Mazdatrix (http://www.mazdatrix.com/g9.htm). They're $288, but you won't have to worry about having a weak link in the drivetrain.

Edit:
Here's a good thread on it: https://www.rx7club.com/2nd-generation-specific-1986-1992-17/tii-tranny-n-rear-ean-auto-driveshaft-skechy-563528/

It looks like some people have even had an auto driveshaft come out or shear completely off. Not good.

RotaryRocket88, I was told you need the TII driveshaft spline

I've never seen a driveshaft in person so I dunno if thats true, maybe the spline from the TII driveshaft makes up for the 1inch shorter automatic driveshaft?

I posted here because the OP sounded like everything was going to sail smoothly and I knew you can't just use the auto driveshaft so I wanted to save him a headace, sorry I can't be of further help.

cmanns, the yoke on the auto driveshaft is exactly the same on the one on a TII driveshaft. The problem is that the shaft is ~1 inch shorter. Swapping the yokes will not change the length. There's some discussion of this in the thread I linked to.

That being said, you would need to swap a TII yoke onto an NA manual driveshaft if you were trying to make your own auto driveshaft. But if you've already got an auto driveshaft, there'd be no point to making another one. This is probably why you'd heard this, since some people might choose to convert their NA manual driveshafts.

RotaryRocket88, ahhh I think it was the guy had a TII tranny I could buy and he may have said I could use the NA drive shaft with the yoke then.

Sorry
